Oxo and Paxo at Large

Thinking of adopting chicks? This album shows some of the less appealing qualities of adult hens. . . Think carefully, a chick is chick for a few weeks, a hen is a hen for much longer!
  • Collecting eggs

    Collecting eggs

Eggs are quite clean when they emerge, but there is often quite bit of poo in there too, so if you don''t pick them up straight away . . .

    A walk in the garden

Yes, the slate chippings should be on the path. We sweep them back a couple of times a week, more often in summer.

  • Salad garden

    Salad garden

Or at least Oxo and Paxo think so. They love freshly planted plants most. The gravel is to stop them digging plants up quicker than I can put them back . . . they usually win!

  • The Poo Tray

    The Poo Tray

Less than 1 days worth of droppings, and they don''t restrict it the hen house! Hens produce a surprising amount of the stuff. Yes, you can use it on the garden, but you might find the hens got there first anyway!

    Can I play too?

What ever I do, the hens join in. They are quite entertaining, but sometimes they just get in the way!

Hens are not fussy creatures; this is what they do with their water.

  • Car Wash!

    Car Wash!

Sorry, no, it''s the hen house. Plastic houses limit the risk of lice and wicky things, but Oxo and Paxo have had to be treated with yucky powder - that was fun to apply to a wriggling hen.
