St George's

Church of England Primary School

25th september 21.00

Our last evening together - its been amazing, if you discount Mr Wilkins, and Mr Pollard putting me to shame on Jacob's ladder! In my defence they had the better weather and conditions by far; and were on the easy ladder - do i sound like a sore loser..... ! Wait 'til next year - I'll shin up single handedly, with any safety harnesses!

Seriously the day has once again been stunning with huge personal successes - Miss Darlington actually managed to harness herself up today. The sun shone as the kids practised the rifle shooting skills, climbed up the Jacob's ladder, and went quad biking. I have to say I can't complement our staff enough for running such a absolutely superb trip, the PGL staff for being such splendid professionals and in fact friends and, however 'twee' my comment, our kids for being perfect. They have been stunning - joined in; pushed themselves and achieved so much. What a great way to start their final year at St G's!

The day is now coming to an end, following a camp fire, and eating roasted marsh mellows! (heat resistant gloves for adults are on the kit list next year!) The children, tonight, as always have begun the countdown to bed..... but really they just want to sleep, and will be in dream land before I finish this blog

Personal highlights tonight include -

  • Emily 'Lara Croft' amazing us all with her shooting skills
  • Jake Clark being first to the top of Jacobs ladder - followed by, Jake Lovell, Macy Owler, Ellen Mallarkey and Morgan Finegan amongst others.....
  • Ella Watkinson's conversational skill (my ears are still ringing after eating my evening meal on her table!) and her 24hr a day 'gung-ho attitude to the challenges.
  • George 'Button' Bradshaw on his quad..... and off it occasionally - competing passionately with Gary Sanderson and Robbie Harrison round the circuit!
  • Mu's classic line 'Mr P, when I'm on roller coasters i don't go on them'..... It must have been the adrenaline rush after a superb performance on the quad.
  • Dylan Hardingham outdoing us all on Jacobs ladder - getting to the top of Jacob's ladder in 47 seconds - he was even faster than Mr Wilkins! (Thank you Dylan)
  • Millie Birkett and Jessica Parkinson- in fine voice around the camp fire tonight - you could clearly hear Lauren's influence! Apparently Jessica was a bit of a whizz on a quad bike aswell!
  • Jamie Owen being a super star on Jacob's ladder!
  • Mollie Gardiner facing her challenges - to get to the top of Jacobs ladder!
  • Georgia Reid's putting Robin Hood to shame at Archery.
  • Jessica Pilkington overcoming her fears to abseil down the wall.....

Well done everybody - have a great last night without your 'most treasured possessions....'

Well done kids for being such great 'treasured possessions'

As the kids settle down for a last night together; staff will settle down for 'adult time' and will upload some more action shots from the day!

See you tomorrow folks!

The PGL team!
