Bookweek Recount by Class 3

Class 3 have thoroughly enjoyed bookweek.  Together, we have written a recount of all the fantastic things we have done.

This week we have celebrated book week at St George’s School, because it was World Book Day on Thursday 1st March. We have enjoyed lots of exciting activities during the week.

On Tuesday, our new Easi-Ears arrived.  (Mrs Brown says a big Thank You for sending in all those Tesco tokens which paid for them!) Mr Purcell came and unpacked them but we had to wait 16 hours for them to charge up before we could use them. They looked very exciting – a bit like a spaceship!

Tom Goodale, the storyteller, came on Wednesday to tell us a story and we loved it. One of his stories was about a magic pot that doubled everything that went into it. It was very funny. Later he helped us to make up our own story.

After assembly, we went back to the classroom. Some of us had the first turn to listen to a story on the new Easi-Ears, while the rest of us began making our own books.

One of the things we did was join in to write a whole school story. Just before lunch on Wednesday it was time for us to do our bit. We had to decide the plot and we all had lots of great ideas.

Thursday was prop week. One of us had pink and glittery wings. Can you guess which book character they were thinking of? The book was brilliant!

On Thursday a fabulous illustrator called Steve Hutton came to school.  First he drew St George and the Dragon in assembly.

Then he worked with class 3 and class 4. He made a picture of a wolf on Saturn. The wolf was howling and the aliens though that he was sad. So, they came and tickled him and gave him a crown. Steve helped us make up the story while he was drawing the picture.

In groups we played a game. We made up a story by choosing cards and telling that part of the story. We all had lots of fun playing the game.

Everybody brought a book for a book swap.  We all had chance to choose a new book that someone else had finished with. One book had finger puppet eyeballs!

Mrs Brown learned how to use the Easi-ears so that we could read and record a story on to the new gadget. We enjoyed listening to each other.

We really enjoyed listening to the whole class story in assembly on Friday. We can’t wait to hear it on the school website. Watch this space!
