Torch Day is here!
What a fantastic celebration, and an exciting start to a wonderful day!
The day has been a brilliant success so far. The crowds were here nice and early, bright and cheerful. The school looked fantastic with the grounds trimmed with bunting, bows and balloons. We lined the route and waited eagerly. Some early arrivals were lucky enough to greet the coach as it arrives and were rewarded by being able to hold the torch for themselves! Huge cheers went up as the torch was lit and set on it's way through Chorley.

Don't forget to watch the news later, as the BBC were filming the occasion, and you might also hear some of the crowd being interviewed on Rock FM.
It’s been a long time in the planning but . . . at last – it’s here! Friday 1st June is the big day and this is how it should pan out:
6.30 onwards – school grounds open so you can reserve your picnic spot
7.20 – torch passes by school (timing on this is obviously not in our hands)
Once the torch has passed by, the celebrations begin in the school grounds. Bring your own picnic or enjoy a bacon barm and a cup of tea/juice served from the hall (£1.50). We have booked entertainers and a dj and, in addition, there will also be some fair games and face painting.
Toilet facilities will be available in the Parish Room (off the Hall) and at the Y4/5 end of School.
8.45 – classrooms open and children can be received by their class teacher. Infants should enter through the door on their playground as they normally do. Juniors should enter through the front door. Arrangements for children who are not attending the event are detailed below.
2.45 – balloon release followed by blessing – it would be great to see you there!
For those planning to come by car, Telent have kindly agreed that we can use their car parking facilities on the day – Telent ask that you use the side entrance on Little Carr Lane, the one signed ‘Commercial Vehicles’.
A number of factors, not least road closures, traffic, etc means that we have had to take the decision to cancel Breakfast Club on that morning. If this causes any great problems, please let us know.
Due to the complexities involved, we attached a risk assessment to Newsletter 32, 25/5/12 which should answer any questions you may have.
All we need now is the weather and, of course, your presence!
Arrangements for Children not attending the event
For safeguarding purposes, please remember that all children will need to be accompanied by an adult until 8.45 when they will go into school to register. The children remain the parents’ responsibility until they enter the classroom at 8.45. Children who are not attending the event should enter school through the front door and congregate in the Music Room where they will be supervised by a member of staff until 8.45.
