Snow Blog

The snow was lovely . . . but it did give us few problems!

Sunday 10th January
The Big Grit was amazing – thank you to all who turned up…I truly appreciate it! Check out your pictures in 'Gallery' and 'Big Grit'by clicking here. Paths to the Infant and Junior doors have been created. I would recommend you use these paths; rather than the entrance from Fountains Close which has not been treated.  That is on the target list for tomorrow – so please, if you have any time and energy… please stay behind after you have dropped the children off, and we’ll dig out from Fountains close!  Thanks again to all volunteers today – its appreciated!

11.05 – Sunday 10th January.  Every indicator suggests that school will be open as normal on Monday.  Check deeper into the block for safety suggestions, and register closing times.

Friday 8th Jan 5pm  - A lovely day in school, with lots of safe, careful, fun in the snow.  Lots more pictures added to the gallery, click here.
1:45 pm (blog updated by year six) After three extra days of christmas holidays due to the bad weather, we are back at school. School is extra warm and we are not allowed out too much for safety reasons but when we get out we enjoy playing in the snow! Check out our pictures in the photographic gallery.
8.10 am Friday 8th January - School is lovely and warm this morning and we are open!!!  Welcome to the New Year!  Please keep checking the website as it is always the first place to be updated; radio and county websites always having a slight delay as they process the information.  Please take the greatest care on your journey, and note all the information below, for your safety.
If you feel that your child is at any risk or danger travelling to and from school, or you consider the jounrey to be too dangerous for yourselves, please keep your child at home. This will be recorded as an authorised absence.
To ease congestion registers will remain open till 10 a.m.
Breakfast Club and After School Club will open as usual. Parents are requested, where possible, to arrange early pick up from After School Club.

Thursday10. 35pm It’s a chilly night, but I’m safely home, having witnessed outside temperatures of -13.5 near Kiley Court, with town temperatures averages -8.5! School is toasty warm, and should be open on Friday 8th January! The heating system is currently running smoothly – let’s just all pray, and keep our fingers crossed that the oil stays viscous….if the oil becomes too thick, then the heating will trip out again. After a helping hand from a parent who was kind enough to come and help me – the heating system has been adjusted so that in essence in will remain on for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the next week! Thanks to all who came to help tonight….
Thursday 7.50pm. I am about to make a 'comedy' journey to school, to check on the heating system.... confirmation of school opening, at this stage will appear shortly.  assuming we are open, can parents please consider the following;
Please be advised that the roads around school remain hazardous so please take care when dropping off and picking up children. And take your time.
Thursday 11.17am
Altogether… put your left arm in, left arm out…  It’s a little bit like the hokey-cokey at the moment – I feel as though I am currently living through a reality comedy programme, I expect the television cameras to appear at any moment. Once again apologies for the late notice this morning, on this occasion the school closure was brought about by a heating failure, a consequence of frozen oil.  The heating is now repaired, and working, and once again, WE WILL BE OPEN ON FRIDAY, assuming no more ‘comedy’ elements are thrown at us. From the parents we spoke to this morning, spirits are high, and your understanding of our situation was more than evident…we owe you one! As always, please keep your eye on the web site for the latest information… and I hope to see you tomorrow.
Thursday 7th Jan 8.45 am.  There is a problem with the heating and unfortunately school will have to be closed today.  Apologies for the inconvenience, we are doing our best and will keep you informed.  Please keep checking here before ringing school wherever possible.  Thank you.
Wednesday 5pm. It would appear from their website that Albany will be closed tomorrow and therefore breakfast club will be at St George's, possibly on War Time Rations!  You may prefer to have  breakfast before you come, or to bring it with you!
Wednesday 3pm.  At the moment, we expect school to be open as normal tomorrow.  The registers will remain open until 9.30 so please take your time and travel safely, especially if using your car.  As always, take particular care with parking and use the Hop Pocket car park.  Take extra care on your journey, especially as you approach school and its grounds as it still remains rather treacherous!  Please do not allow your children to slide or to throw snowballs on their way in.   Late stay will be open as usual, but we ask you to collect your children as early as possible.  Breakfast club will be at Albany if they are open, and at St George's, with limited facilities, if they are closed.  You may wish to check their website information here http://www.albanysciencecollege.co.uk/  We look forward to seeing you all soon!
Wednesday 9am - The school will be closed today, but early indications are that we will be open tomorrow.  Please keep checking here for updates, we will do our best to keep you informed, and the children safe.
Tuesday 3.30pm After careful consideration, and with the main concern being for the safety of our children and staff, the school will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday 6th Jan.  We have made this decision now in order to give you plenty of time to make arrangements for your children, and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Tuesday 12.30pm Between 3.00pm and 5.00pm today, a decision will be made as to whether school will re open on Wednesday 6th.  Breakfast club users will need to be aware of Albany’s situation.  If they are closed, and we are open – May will be at our school – we will sort out some breakfast for the children!
8.00am Tues Jan 5th - Due to the bad weather, the school is closed today.  FOR UPDATED INFORMATION PLEASE Keep an eye on the school website, or LISTEN TO ROCK FM, Radio Lancashire or REAL FM and stay safe in the snow!A
