Walking Day
Walking Day - GENERALLY THE LAST SATURDAY IN JUNE!
(BUT CHECK THE CHURCH WEBSITE USING THIS LINK FOR CONFIRMATION)
Meet us in Cunliffe Street (near the Masonic Hall) at 1.45pm..... It's over with by 3.00pm!
As a Church of England Primary School, part of our role is to celebrate our Christian Faith. One of the many ways that we are distinctive is that we join in with our Walking Day - generally held on the last Saturday on June. The walk, from Cunliffe Street to Astley Park, and back again, is great fun, held in conjunction with many other CE churches and schools in Chorley, and is very well supported. The 40 minute walk ends with an optional Church Service, often at St George's. School staff do attend this service, but do so as individuals. The service is not a church event, but a family one. So, if families wish to attend the service youre more than welcome. Just collect your children at the end of the walk, and make your way into church.
During the walk, some children walk with school, in which case please wear your school uniform, some with their Uniformed Organisation, in which case wear that uniform, others with Sunday School, in which case wear your posh new clothes! Either way it is great to see the whole school, and church united on this day! So please.... I'm not bothered who you do it with, unless you have a hugely pressing, crucial sporting event, or arrangement, walk.... Please! I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, including mine if I'm honest, which isn't a secret, but we are a Church School, and it is great to see the St George's brand out in force.... Once a year at least!
