A notice from Mark....

This week is our Arts Focus Week! Everything is ready for the children to come in to a surprise on Monday morning and we have lots of exciting activities planned for the whole week. Keep an eye on Facebook, your child’s class Seesaw page and the school website for updates throughout the week.

As a hint as to what is to come, on Tuesday, real life explorer and adventuress, Jacki Hill Murphy will be coming to school to meet the children and talk about her own adventures as well as the adventures of other female explorers from the Victorian age right up to the present.

Jacki is an explorer, author, speaker and teacher. She has written many books including Adventuresses and The Life and Travels of Isabella Bird. If you would like to purchase one or both of the books, you can do so now via Scopay.

Manchester Arena.

The children taking part will travel by coach to Manchester Arena. The coach will leave school at 11.30am and is scheduled to leave Manchester at 9.30pm after the concert has finished. Traffic permitting they should arrive back at school by 10.30pm  to be collected by parents/grandparents.

Dress Code—Children will wear a white t shirt, we have ordered them from school. KIds should come to school in normal school uniform, getting changed in school.

No hats/ flashing headbands!

Kids— on the day bring

Packed ‘tea’ in a disposable bag please. No glass bottles.

How about if all the choir had a school meal for lunch? That way they’re having a hot meal during the day?I think this has all been sorted with Sharon, and Siobhan.

We will bring the kids back to school on the coach—and they will be dismissed from the promenade door onto the yard…. Look, it could get late! Sorry about that, it’s best you know now, to avoid a rise in stress levels!

Choir can come into school anytime up to 10:30am the following day

Congratulations to Leanne and the kitchen team - they were spot checked last week and scored 5/5 for food hygeine. Im thrilled for them.

The governments website states, "When scoring a 5 on a food hygiene rating, this means that the standards are very good and the business is complying with the law set by the FSA after scoring between 0 and 15 points on their inspection."

5 star hygiene rating! - St Lukes Hospice, Basildon, Essex, UK

I must say that schools meals are far better than they were, not just since I was last at school - who remembers the pink custard and "turkey" twirls!? We have an enhanced menu at St George's, with Juniors being offered 4 options, rather than the standard 3. The ordering system is much better as well for Juniors, where by they can choose on the day, with parents paying on SCOpay. It really is quick, simple and effective. Sunday Roast on a Wednesday is an absolute favourite, as is Friday Favourites. In the week we have home made food, a meat and veggie, or Jacket or Sandwich. Additionally they really look after the staff as well! By serving now over 200 dinners per day, they make school a better place. Lunch times are pleasant, enjoyable and wholesome. Leanne and her team dont just stand by watching school go by.... they gets stuck in, knowing that they are an integral cog. And when Leanne's finished in the kitchen she goes and supports kids with her learning, before returning to Late Stay. It's lovely to see the pride that they have in their work, and in their school. So thank you, and well done one and all.

Parking around School

We have had a couple of complaints from residents this week with concerns regarding blocking of driveways and double parking around school. The residents also informed us that they have reported these issues to the local police.

Please be mindful when dropping off and picking up your children and choose your parking spot wisely even if it means walking a little further.

Have a great weekend folks, and let's look forward to an amazing week next week - where we focus on the Arts....... it will be fab - starting with a hot air balloon being on site on Monday as we Focus on the work of Adventurers and Explorers.....

May I conclude, if you're still reading this mammoth letter,  by confirming that Confirmation classes are only open to year 6! This is a situation where I fall victim of COVID - things have been so different haven't they, and whilst I know what we've always done, and what I mean, I forget things haven't been normal, and things haven't happened! Apologies - confirmation class is only open to year 6! For those younger kids who have expressed an interest, don't worry - your time will come! Mr P
