Welcome back everyone, I hope you had a great Easter holiday, and are ready for the excitement that the new term will undoubtedly bring. It’s very strange in school how quickly you fall back into the routine of work life. As I walked around the classes this week the children are lovely—they really are an asset to the place. They looked great, worked well and genuinely seemed delighted to be back. It was lovely. School is amazing you know - it's exciting yet calm, it's serious, yet fun and its a great place to be, whether adult, or child - we really do have something to be proud of. I promise you that!

School uniform.

As you know we have 2 suppliers for school uniform…. All the details can be found on the school website.
A couple of additional points if I may; please note, we don't permit earrings as part of the kids uniform.
And regarding hairstyles - the kids look great. There's been a shift in fashion for the lads, which is lovely, and smart, but may I remind you that hairstyle must be natural looking in colour, must not be cut shorter than a number 2, and, for me, above all, should not have anything shaved into it, or be stepped. If you feel you need to discuss this further with me, please get in touch.

Happy Vaisakhi! (“va-SAH-kee"), also known as Baisakhi, is an important festival celebrated by Sikhs.

Vaisakhi started as a harvest festival in the Punjabi region of northern India.

It also celebrates the formation of the Khalsa order which promotes justice & equality and the creation of a more equal & just society. Members wear the five articles of faith (5K’s) practice daily meditation, and read the Guru Granth Sahib.

The day starts with a visit to the gurdwara, a place of worship. After the religious services, people begin a day of celebration.

Wearing colourful, traditional clothes they take part in parades through the streets. There is lots of singing, dancing chanting of hymns & bhangra - traditional folk dance. We can’t forget the food .. shared by everyone as part of the Sikh tradition of langar.

Internet and Online Safety What an amazing tool the Internet is. It allows children to open up a whole world full of exciting possibilities. They can play, learn, create and connect. It is our job as adults to ensure that our children stay safe online. There is a wealth of information out there on how to keep your child safe online but in the meantime here are a few tips that we apply both as teachers and parents:

  • Ensure that your child is using the Internet and indeed any kind of social media that is age related and appropriate.
  • Try and ensure that computers, phones, tablets and gaming devices are used in a family area and that children are not going online unsupervised.
  • Limit the amount of usage time.
  • Check your child’s browsing history regularly.
  • Consider having a family charging area to ensure that children are not using their devices through out the night.
  • Apply parental permissions on devices but please don’t overly rely on these. No system is 100% accurate. The following was brought to our attention this week. It really is worth a look at—they are apps you would not want your child to have downloaded on their devices.
