Hello everybody. What an amazingly busy and exciting week it has been at St. George's. Thank you as ever for your support. It does not go unnoticed and makes such a difference to the atmosphere about the school! We really have one of the greatest school communities around, if not the best.

Summer Fair

On Monday the Summer Fair landed at St. George's in earnest and what a night it was. The evening was so well attended by yourselves (this is what I'm talking about), the children were buzzing as they strode through the corridors and by the end of the night it was confirmed that you had raised a whopping £3263. This is testament to your generostiy, your time and your unwavering support of the school. Thank you!

Bibby's Farm

What a week it has been for the Year 2 children. They have had so much fun up on the hills overlooking Chorley and what a brave bunch! They showed so much determination and courage as they tacked grass sledging, canoeing, obstacle courses, high ropes, climbing walls and the dreaded cave bus!!!! Mrs Smith, Mrs Leap and Mrs Towers were so impressed by the kids, indeed all of the St. George's staff were and know that this little blast of adventure success will tide them over well, and launch them into the Juniors with that little spring in their step!

Please see The Facebook Group for photos!

Thank you too to all the teachers and helpers who supported the trip and made it happen!

For Parents and Carers of our current Year 5 children

On September 15th 2023, the new Year 6 children will be jetting off to PGL Boreatton Park. The Residential Adventure Holiday is a wonderful annual trip which has been made by St. George's for decades now. The children will leave together from school by coach on the Morning of the 15th September, sleep over at PGL Friday, Saturday and Sunday night before returning to School on the afternoon of Monday 18th September. The trip has always been a great success and brings the Year 6 children together, forging friendships and pushing the children out of their comfort zones. It also gives them a massive confidence boost and taste of independence which invariably offers them a massive opportunity for social development.

Please check your SCOPAY account for details of the outstanding balance

As an attachment, there is a kit list (I appreciate that you will probably want to start sorting out gear before September). It will help you to see what kind of items will be needed for the trip.

Of course there will be a pre-trip meeting for the adults of current Y5 kids. this will take place on Wednesday 6th September 2023, at 6pm. Please enter through the school main entrance (a reminder will be sent out in the new academic year).

PTFA Gathering and recruitment drive 2023

Please, if you are interested in finding out more about the PTFA and how you can be involved in the organistaiton, please come along to the Yarrow Bridge Pub on Monday night, from 7pm. Some members of the PTFA and Mrs Gregson will be present to answer your questions, share a drink with you and welcome you into the PTFA should you be interested. The PTFA makes such a difference to the school and the more wonderful volunteers we have, the better. If you are even only mildly curious, get yourself down... you won't regret it.

You will receive a text message from school on Monday, detailing which class your child will be going into.

Earlier in the Term we received word from Mrs Johnson that she would be leaving St. George's, indeed the teaching profession,  to pursue her work with The Thrive Programme full time. I wish to acknowledge my appreciation for Michelle's quality, leadership and teaching over the past 10 years and wish her all the very best in her future career.

Mrs Johnson will still be bobbing in from time to time as a favour to the school to help maintain our work with The Thrive Programme as we all value it so very much!

But as Mrs Johnson departs, we acknowledge the gap she leaves and are excited to announce that after a fiercly competitive process of applications, some new appointments can now be publically shared. From September we welcome to our team:

Mrs Gregson to the role of Acting Deputy Headteacher

Mrs Harrison to the role of Acting Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Smith to the role of Acting SENCO

We are thrilled by these appointments and know that they will ensure our stability, ambition and continue to raise the standards at St. George's.

We are joined by Laura Hall for 12 months, who is highly recommended from local Chorley Schools. Although, undoubetly the timing of Michelle's news was a curve ball, the decision wasn't. I am confident with the revised staffing, and excited for the new year.
