Dear all,

Happy New Year!   My thoughts and prayers are with you at the start of this new term.  I hope all goes well in 2024 and look forward to seeing you throughout the year.

Im thrilled to announce that St George's will undergo its second inspection of teh year - this time from the Church of England. We united and worked phenominally during OFSTED, and the inspector was blown away by the way we worked together as a community. May I respectfully ask we do the same again.... Below is the information about the inspection from Fiona Ashton, Lead Inspector.

Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) Inspection of Chorley, St George’s Church of England Primary School

Letter from Fiona Ashton, SIAMS Inspector

Dear Parents and Carers,

All Church of England and Methodist schools are inspected approximately every five years by a SIAMS inspector from the Church of England, although there has been some delay to our inspections due to Covid.

I will be inspecting your child’s school on 16/01/2024.

A SIAMS inspection is an opportunity to highlight the impact that the school’s Christian vision has on the flourishing of the whole school community.

As part of my evidence-gathering I will speak with a range of people from within the school community. It is likely that I will speak with some of you on the inspection day.

Following the inspection, I will write a report. Once the report has been finalised it will be published, and the inspection findings will be shared with you. This will be approximately three weeks after the inspection. The report will celebrate all that is special about the school and will identify next steps that are helpful in the school’s ongoing development as a Church school.

The report will be published on the school’s website, and I would encourage you to read it.

I look forward to spending time with the school community on Tuesday, 16/01/2024.

Kind regards,

Fiona Ashton

SIAMS Inspector

A MESSAGE FOR EPIPHANY

As we welcome the dawn of the Epiphany, a season of revelation and profound significance, we extend heartfelt greetings to you all.  The journey of the Magi to witness the birth of Christ serves as an inspiring example of unwavering perseverance in the pursuit of divine truth.  In Matthew 2:9-11, we read, "After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him."   The Magi's perseverance, guided by the star, led them to the transformative encounter with the Christ child. This Epiphany story serves as a poignant reminder of the rewards that come with steadfast determination and faith. As we embark on a new term and return to the school routine, let us draw inspiration from the Magi's journey.  In supporting our kids on their educational journey, let our commitment to perseverance mirror that of the Magi. By fostering a nurturing environment that encourages resilience, we can guide our kids towards realising their fullest potential. Just as the Magi found joy in their journey, may our school communities find joy in the shared pursuit of knowledge, growth, and spiritual fulfilment.

May this Epiphany season infuse our hearts with renewed dedication to the values of perseverance, compassion, and service as we collectively shape the future of our students.

Wishing you a blessed Epiphany and a successful return to school.

Chick Chick Chick Chick Chicken….

Easter is on the horizon, a bit. Do we have any volunteers to knit some chickens/ rabbits/baskets for us please to help the Easter bunny out?

Stocks are very low this year, so as many as possible from as many as possible would be greatly appreciated.

We will of course reimburse any cost to yourself for wool etc! Please, go random with the colours of wool! Just use any colour!

So if you can help us out with knitted Easter things that we can hid individual Easter Eggs in we would greatly appreciate this.

Education Sunday

I do know, and indeed accept it may not be everyone’s favourite Sunday experience. I know you may have to get up early, miss football, whatever… but come and join us on Sunday 28th January for our celebration of the Church, the school and each other. We’ve got a great thing here at St George’s… let’s show it off, let's protect it, let's nurture it.

Our Ethos Group will be leading the Service with all Key Stage 1 and 2 involved in taking us through the signing of the Lord’s Prayer. The Infants and Junior children will also be singing during the service and, of course, as is traditional, or rather was traditional before COVID, singing our Communion Hymns.

Can we meet at church please by 9.20am for the 09.30am service. All the children sit with their own class (in school uniform, or parade uniform) and you are warmly invited to stay for the service.

Dismissal at the end of the service will be as usual….with children remaining in their pews until an adult collects them.

We look forward to seeing you there! An invitation is also extended, should you have the time, to round off the morning with a cup of coffee and biscuits in the Church Hall.

As we embark on another important journey together, I am reminded of a timeless quote about teamwork by the legendary Vince Lombardi: "Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilisation work."

Last October, our school community rallied together during the OFSTED inspection, demonstrating the incredible strength that comes from unity and support. Your unwavering commitment and dedication made a significant difference, and I am immensely proud of what we achieved together.

Now, as we prepare for the SIAMS inspection, I ask that you rally round us once again, just as you did before. Your support, encouragement, and involvement are instrumental in our journey towards continued excellence in education. Together, we can face any challenge with confidence and determination.

Let us remember that our collective efforts are what make St George's Primary an exceptional places for our children to learn and grow. Your involvement in our school community is valued beyond measure, and we are grateful for your continued partnership.

With gratitude and anticipation for the future,

Andy
