So far so good folks. School feels great, feels safe and is working brilliantly - out door assembly on Friday was superb. Did you manage to see it? If not, do check it out, it's on our Facebook page! To see, and hear the kids singing all together, was brilliant.

Indulge me folks, let me remind you were we are re covid. We're certainly enjoying some sunshine, and that's great, but the dark clouds of COVID have not gone far.

Please continue to be massively vigilant in supporting us in trying to keep COVID out of school for as long as we can. We do that by strictly following the guidelines, and at times being devilish and fastidious with the latest detail and by being punctilious with regard kids symptoms.

Forget the flow charts. The best, and tightest advice is:

If your kid has any of the major symptoms of COVID found in children (Fever, cough, runny nose/nasal congestion, muscle aches, unusual, unexpected tiredness,  all are major indicators of COVID in kids) please keep your child, and any siblings off school, and book a PCR test. If any adult in your house has any of the major symptoms of COVID found in adults (Temperature, Cough, Change to taste or smell) please keep your child, and any siblings off school, and book a PCR test. Really, in both these cases the whole household should self isolate until the results of the PCR are in.

A day or two inconvenience for a household is preferable to 10 days isolation for 30 households.

Many, many, many thanks for your cooperation, support and understanding (if not always full agreement) from where I'm coming from. Appreciate it.

School Dinners. It's time to come back. Made with love, served with a smile.

We will be trialling, with KEY STAGE 2 only for now, a new, more flexible way of ordering school meals. Hitherto your only 2 choices have been "school meals" or "packed lunch". We have asked you to stay on this selection all week. However, we can now be more flexible.

From Monday the 26th April you will be able to/should/must order your school meals via your scopay account whenever you want to. You will be able to pick and choose which days your child has school dinners (you can't yet choose the meal, although we always have a choice) The system is set up to allow school 48 hours notice. Therefore, if you want a school meal on a Thursday, you can order this up to midnight Monday, for Monday, order up to midnight on a Friday at the latest. you will not be able to order a school meal for a Thursday on a Wednesday! Once Leanne, and yourselves have got used to the system, then we will open it up further to allow you to choose your own meal option.

There are no changes at all if your child is in reception, year 1 or year 2.

All school meals are sorted for this week.

So, if your child is in year 3, 4, 5 or 6, check out the menu and order the days you want a school meal. (There is still a gamble as we cannot guarantee the meal choice as of yet, but you should be fine unless your child is on last sitting. We will always sort something out though.)

The system is now live on your scopay account, and instructions are attached to this newsletter.  So let's give it a go JUNIORS - any problems, just ring or email.

The new summer menu is also attached - and that looks great!

Folks, whilst clearly much remains unknown we are making provisional plans for our year 6 kids, who deserve so much, having giving so much. Although the plans are provisional I do expect to be able to carry them out. Obviously though it does depend on government guidance. But for now, let’s allow ourselves to believe they will happen.

As you know national tests have been cancelled – year 6 SATS. However we all want to know, including the kids, how they are performing. Indeed, having spoken to the kids, there is actually a fair amount of disappointment that they’re not going ahead, perhaps not because of the actual test, but the ‘rite of passage’ that they would miss out on, not to mention the surprise pizza!

Accordingly, we, at St George’s will be completing the year 6 SATSs for internal use only. (We will let you know the marks if you wish to know!) The “SATs week” will involve all the pomp and ceremony of the actual SATS including ‘ booster sessions’ ‘SATs t shirts’ and the surprise end of SATs pizza. SATs week will be Monday 5th July through to Wednesday 7th July inclusive, with pizza on the Wednesday. Boosters will start next week – more detail on the newsletter, and from Rob and Georgina.

The other area of year 6 rite of passage is PGL. As you know we have cancelled it this year, and it remains cancelled. However, we have booked Bibby’s farm for the nights of Thursday 8th, Friday 9th July. To me this is achievable. We will be in our own bubble there, not have to travel by coach, and will have sole use. I am charging £90.00 for the 2 nights due to the short notice! I’ve no idea how much it will cost, but you’ll gain! I know I've cancelled it for Year 2, but in my head I've got 4 years to plug that gap, and the 'covid catch up plans' in their entirety last 2 years.

Additionally, assuming the road map to recovery goes ahead as normal year 6 will also be able to have a sleepover in school.

Year 6 have been incredible during the last 12 months. They have, like many of us had it tough, and I hope that these arrangements form the very start of the healing process for them.

There will be much more detail to follow from class teachers as we go through the appropriate paper work at this end, but I wanted to let you know as soon as possible apropos payment. Payment is to be paid via scopay, and this is now open on your account.

May I conclude with a couple of requests please?

Please don't use the car park for dropping off and picking up. It's tight enough! Sorry for the inconvenience here.

Also kids, keep off the bikes please in the morning! These are for school use! I believe we've been taking out one or two ankles which will hurt!
