14.6.2021

May I start with a heartfelt, very genuine thank you? We have seen in the last 36 minutes in school the reasons why we Self Isolate. We have sadly had two families this morning where kids have tested positive for COVID. Thankfully both are asymptomatic, and, because the whole family went into self isolation as soon as an adult tested positive, there are no bubble closures. This is great news, and I am so, so grateful to the families for their cooperation, and response to the circumstances they have been dealt. Let's hope and pray that the whole family remain with low level symptoms, and the kids remain asymptomatic.

I know COVID will get back into St Georges - that quite literally is inevitable, but we must also celebrate the little successes. I know I sound like broken record, I know at times it appears i use this newsletter as a soapbox, I don't mean to. I just want to, as we all do, keep the classes in school, and I want to keep you at work, and I want to do my (very) small part in keeping everyone safe, yet keeping the country moving.

So, as it stands, at the time of writing, we're in great shape, and that's down to each and every one of us.

Guidelines the same.

Hands, face, space, fresh air

Self Isolation for the whole household if anyone has symptoms, or anyone is awaiting results of a PCR

Regular LFD testing - only if you feel in tip top shape, and nothing is wrong with you.

Remember the wider prevalent symptoms that are present in children, rather than adults.

Government guidance, underneath the headlines, actually states "anyone can get a PCR test at any time" And things change all the time, for example Headaches and Runny Noses are strongly linked to the latest Delta variant.

Today marks the start of multi-faith week at St George’s.

Prags Cultural Educ-Asian Ltd has arrived and year 6 are starting the day learning about a Hindu shrine!

Congrats to all little confirmees tonight. It was a brilliant service, and you all looked ace. Now go forth with your life determined, and confident, knowing God is with you.

Pictures at school are few and far between, so apologies - but here a few snapshots!

You all looked great, you all performed brilliantly, and behaved superbly - pretty good i would say!

Class photographs are coming home tonight!

A little ray of sunshine, they're lovely. Please order these on line now - there is no need to send anything back to school! It's all done on line - the joys of modern technology! Sharon loves it!

Please remember you can, indeed should, now order school meals on line now, using your SCO pay account. You can order meals any time, on any day, giving a little more flexibility. The nuance that caught a few of us out was the fact we need to have credit on the account before you order!

In other SCOpay news, parents evening will go live on 5th July, at 10am. It's all a bit odd this year isn't it, as you know. At a similar time you will also be receiving your end of school reports! All very exciting! Parents evening will be once again held via zoom.

We are approaching end of term….. As always, please ensure that all accounts are paid up to date.  It’s right and proper for us, and for you!

Could you also please check your accounts if your child has been on trip recently—please check voluntary contributions are paid. Again, this is only fair now, as if you’re not going to pay the contribution then we should have known before the trip.

Martin Mere Trip 13th September. Can you help? Please?

Well this should, neigh will be a great day - It will symbolise a new school year, it will symbolise the end of "emergency and extensive procedures," and will be the mental start of a fresh start, probably a fresh start that involves new procedures, and COVID measures, but one built on permanency,  and one that is proactive to our new way of life, rather than reactive to the emergency that was COVID.

The biggest signal that this will send is that of the return of whole school worships - not sure what form they'll take, but we will be together more! And our 1st whole school worship will be held here at the Harrier Hide at Martin Mere, where we can genuinely look at God's wonderful World, rather than a Parquet floor - no matter how well polished!

I have a beautiful romantic vision of such a perfect day for the kids, and staff, who have had a fair bit of rough, tough and tumble over the last 15 months, but for this to happen i need your help! Ideally I'd like between 10 and 15 adult helpers! You don't need a DBS certificate to join us, as you won't be on your own with the kids, but as things stand, I will be asking you to take a LFD test. If you can possible help, or know any family member who can help, please email me using this link.

As I conclude the newsletter, may I just say thank you so much for your support, your friendship, your candour. It makes a massive difference to me, to the kids and the school.

And let me ask, is it coming home? And how many years of hurt has it been these days?
