Organisational & Security issues regarding Class Call In

  • I hope you are looking forward to class call in next Thursday 14th October. It's the 1st one we've had in a while, and will be new to reception, year 1, and maybe even year 2 parents!  Classrooms will be open on Thursday, from 3.30pm-4.30pm for you to come into school, just to have a look round!   This is not a parents’ evening, but an opportunity for your child to show you what they are proud of around school, and in their books! Let your child lead you through their work, and the school and do the talking!  Just call in for as long as you like… I hope to see you there!
  • As we continue to learn, and practice living with Covid can everyone entering school on Thursday please complete  LFT test before entering school, and wear a mask at all times whilst you're in school.
  • It is a very busy hour in school and needs to be organised! Please indulge us… (remember it’s new arrangements for many this year) And it does take us ages to settle Late Stay, account for them, check school's secure, then let you in. Just chill and chat whilst you wait!
  • Can all parents remain on the yard until staff indicate school is clear, and we know that all children have been dismissed safely.
  • Classes 1 & 2. Enter and leave through the reception door. Michelle will be there to indicate when you can come in, which is around 3:30pm.

Class 3 & 11 —Enter and leave through your own door from the Infant Playground

Children in classes 4 – 6 (inclusive) please enter and leave through your own classroom door! Class teachers will be on hand to give you the signal to enter.

Children in classes 7 – 10 should enter and leave up the junior slope, Thomas will be there to indicate when you can enter.

Please, I beg, be patient, and avoid ‘blocking’ the exits, despite your natural enthusiasm to get in! Teachers are not being awkward—they're waiting for me to say that parents can come in, and I will only do that once Late Stay are sorted. The priority is to ensure that all children have been safely handed over to their accompanying adult, and this takes time.

  • Please supervise your children closely during the time you are in school!

So many dos and don'ts, perhaps begs the question is it worth it!? The answer is a most definite, "yes"

Thanks for your co-operation in all these matters; I hope you enjoy the call in!

Have you ever picked up your child from school, dying to know how their day went, only to have a conversation that goes a bit like this...

'How was your day?'

'Fine'

'What did you do today at school?'

'Nothing'

And that's it. The conversation comes to an abrupt end and you still have absolutely no clue about what they got up to. Sound familiar? Well, if you're keen to get some answers, try asking these kid-friendly questions instead.

I bet you'll find out a whole lot more!

1 What game did you play at playtime?

2 What made you smile today at school?

3 What was the funniest thing the teacher said?

4 Who do you want to make friends with in your class, but you haven't had a chance yet?

5 Who bought in the yummiest thing for packed lunch today?

6 Tell me one cool thing you learned today.

7 What was the hardest rule to follow in class today?

8 If you got to choose, who would you want to sit next to/not want to sit next to in class?

9 Tell me three different times you used your pencil today.

10 And did you use your rubber?

11 Did anything make you cross at school today?

12 Who did you help at school today?

13 What rules do they have at school that are different to the rules we have at home? Are they fair?

14 Did any of your classmates do anything funny today?

15 How would you rate your day at school out of 10? Why?

16 When did you feel most proud of yourself today?

17 Which lesson do you think I would have enjoyed most today?

18 Does your teacher remind you of anyone we know? Who and why?

19 Was anyone feeling sad or worried at school today?

20 Which new words did you learn?

A parking request from a neighbour.....

Good afternoon,

"I live on Carr Lane , the one directly opposite school and parking is getting a bit much. Trying to get out onto Carr Lane is bad as people parking on the double yellow lines which were put there for a reason and other cars are coming down Carr Lane at a heafty speed (not necessarily parents).

Also all the cars that park fully on the pavement on Bolton Road, its really difficult to see what traffic is coming up the road.

I know it's only for around 30 mins while children are being picked up but it's still not safe.

Many thanks."

I guess let's look after the neighbours and park considerately please!

Have a great week folks, and remember, never underestimate your ability to cope..... take care, and let's reclaim the ability to cope. Because we can.  Andy

We work so well together. Thank you.
