Have you ever picked up your child from school, dying to know how their day went, only to have a conversation that goes a bit like this...

'How was your day?'

'Fine'

'What did you do today at school?'

'Nothing'

And that's it. The conversation comes to an abrupt end and you still have absolutely no clue about what they got up to. Sound familiar? Well, if you're keen to get some answers, try asking these kid-friendly questions instead.

I bet you'll find out a whole lot more!

1 What game did you play at playtime?

2 What made you smile today at school?

3 What was the funniest thing the teacher said?

4 Who do you want to make friends with in your class, but you haven't had a chance yet?

5 Who bought in the yummiest thing for packed lunch today?

6 Tell me one cool thing you learned today.

7 What was the hardest rule to follow in class today?

8 If you got to choose, who would you want to sit next to/not want to sit next to in class?

9 Tell me three different times you used your pencil today.

10 And did you use your rubber?

11 Did anything make you cross at school today?

12 Who did you help at school today?

13 What rules do they have at school that are different to the rules we have at home? Are they fair?

14 Did any of your classmates do anything funny today?

15 How would you rate your day at school out of 10? Why?

16 When did you feel most proud of yourself today?

17 Which lesson do you think I would have enjoyed most today?

18 Does your teacher remind you of anyone we know? Who and why?

19 Was anyone feeling sad or worried at school today?

20 Which new words did you learn?

Headlice are doing the rounds particularly in year 1. Please be vigilant, check your children's hair regularly and treat it as soon as you find anything. We want to keep it out of school as much as possible. Thank you.

Ukulele Afterschool Club - Year 5 ONLY (except Y6s I have e-mailed from last year)

We're thrilled to offer the Ukulele after school club again this year, specifically for Year 5 children who enjoyed Ukulele last year.

Spaces are incredibly limited, and we do have some of our Year 6s carrying on from last year. Please complete the form as soon as possible and I will do my best to accommodate as many students as possible; filling in the form does not guarantee them a place; I will speak to all children to confirm places. Ukuleles will be loaned to the children for the club but do need to be returned at the end of the school year.

The club will begin on Thursday 3rd November, 3:15pm - 4:15pm, and continue through to the summer term. Applications for the club close at 4pm on Friday 14th October.

Kind regards,

Siobhan Mackenzie

How good was Martin Mere! It was superb. Thank you very much indeed to all the "parent" helpers - we genuinely couldn't have done it without you. It kick-started the term brilliantly. It was a great way to cement old friendships, and make new ones. I also want to say that Tyres coach company were also brilliant, and helped the day run so smoothly! My thanks also go to the staff at Martin Mere who helped me organise the trip.... it was great, and dare I say it, just what we all, adult or child needed.

As I had my 1st dose of COVID last week, it's probably worth reminding you, indeed us all, of current ovid guidelines, that can be found following this link.

Basically, if your child has COVID keep them off for 3 days, returning to school thereafter, once the temperature has returned to normal!

As adults who work in schools, our guidance is the same, except we stay off for 5 days, returning to school thereafter, once the temperature has returned to normal!

Have a great week folks, take care

The Sixteenth Sunday after Trinity - Reflection
Read more

As we approach the season of Autumn, and Harvest let’s just pause and reflect on how lucky we are—even when we don’t feel it! What a privilege to be able to access the internet—even when the connection is slow! How great is it to eat all the food we can—even when it’s not as hot as we would like. How amazing is it to be able to drink fresh running water, even when it tastes a little too chemicalised. How great is it to be kept safe and warm and protected from the wind and rain…. Even when the wall paper does  need changing. How great is it to come to school…. Even when Mr P is in a grump! In a world where we really do have everything we need…. And much more, it’s still very easy to focus on the negatives, want more, or complain. As we reflect on the season of Harvest, let’s really focus on what we have…. Not what we’ve not!
