I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, and are ready to face the challenges that the New Year will undoubtedly pose, and hope you are also excited about the joys it will also bring! Once again, the term has started superbly well with the children enjoying the panto, Beauty and the Beast.

This term is a great term as the staff all know the children very well and this is where the progress really becomes noticeable.  Curricular letters and Home Learning Menus will soon be coming home, and published on the website so do take time to look at these to see what is happening with your child’s learning this year and explore ways in which you can enhance this at home.  And, as ever, if you need any more information, don’t hesitate to come in and see us.  Interim reports will be out towards the end of this half term.

Happy New Year from myself and everyone at St. George’s.

Andy

Education Sunday

I do know, and indeed accept it may not be everyone’s favourite Sunday experience. I know you may have to get up early, miss football, whatever… but come and join us on Sunday 29th January for our celebration of the Church, the school and each other. We’ve got a great thing here at St George’s… let’s show it off.

Our Ethos Group will be leading the Service with all Key Stage 1 and 2 involved in taking us through the signing of the Lord’s Prayer. The Infants and Junior children will also be singing during the service and, of course, as is traditional, or rather was traditional before COVID, singing our Communion Hymns.

Can we meet at church please by 9.20am for the 09.30am service. All the children sit with their own class (in school uniform, or parade uniform) and you are warmly invited to stay for the service.

Dismissal at the end of the service will be as usual….with children remaining in their pews until an adult collects them.

We look forward to seeing you there! An invitation is also extended, should you have the time, to round off the morning with a cup of coffee and biscuits in the Church Hall.

Baby News!

A huge congratulations to Rob Horne and his wife Rachel on the birth of their baby boy on 21st December. We  look forward to meeting the latest addition to the Horne family. As Rob continues his paternity leave, Andy will be teaching Year 6 every morning, with Naomi teaching in the afternoons as normal.

Michelle Johnson has now begun her maternity leave as is currently awaiting the arrival of her little one. We wish her all the best for the exciting times in the weeks to come! If you have any senco related questions while Michelle is on maternity leave, please speak to Nicola.

Rachel Smith also begins her maternity leave today and we send her off with lots of warm wishes. As Rachel leaves us, we welcome Alison Whitaker, who will be teaching Class 3. Alison has already been getting to know the class and has had a thorough handover from Rachel. Alison brings with her a wealth of Key Stage One experience and is very much looking forward to teaching Class 3.

Please take a couple of minutes to complete a questionnaire on maths at St George's:

The Young Voices Concert

Manchester Arena, Monday 30th January at 7pm.

The children taking part will travel by coach to Manchester Arena. The coach will leave school after the children have had their lunch,  and is scheduled to leave Manchester at 9.30pm after the concert has finished. Traffic permitting they should arrive back at school by 10.30pm  to be collected by parents/grandparents from the junior playground. Lunches for the day will be arranged via Scopay next week.

Families who have ordered tickets from us will receive them shortly; we’ll send them out to you when we receive them. Anyone who didn't order tickets through school must now order them directly through Manchester Arena.

Look out for our banners on the evening.
