Education Sunday

I do know, and indeed accept it may not be everyone’s favourite Sunday experience. I know you may have to get up early, miss football, whatever… but come and join us on Sunday 29th January for our celebration of the Church, the school and each other. We’ve got a great thing here at St George’s… let’s show it off.

Our Ethos Group will be leading the Service with all Key Stage 1 and 2 involved in taking us through the signing of the Lord’s Prayer. The Infants and Junior children will also be singing during the service and, of course, as is traditional, or rather was traditional before COVID, singing our Communion Hymns.

Can we meet at church please by 9.20am for the 09.30am service. All the children sit with their own class (in school uniform, or parade uniform) and you are warmly invited to stay for the service.

Dismissal at the end of the service will be as usual….with children remaining in their pews until an adult collects them.

We look forward to seeing you there! An invitation is also extended, should you have the time, to round off the morning with a cup of coffee and biscuits in the Church Hall.

Message From Late Stay

If your children attend Late Stay on a Tuesday or Wednesday, please collect them from the Class 5 (purple classroom) external door. This is located on the infant yard opposite the gate that you enter through. This is due to a club in the hall and will continue until February half term.

Chinese New Year Lunch

The kitchen staff are planning a very special Chinese New Year lunch on Thursday 19th January. The menu is attached to this week's newsletter. If you would like to order this lunch, please do so via Scopay. Infant children do not need to order.

Year 2 children will be going to Bibby's Farm on 6th and 7th July 2023. We would now ask that parents begin to make payments towards this trip. This can be done so via Scopay. The children will have an amazing time on this trip. We appreciate that at this point you may have questions about the trip. We will be sharing more details nearer the time and will hold a parent and children's meeting at Bibby's Farm.

Parking

We understand that parking can be inevitably difficult with so many children being collected from school at the same time. However, can we ask that parents are mindful of our neighbours when parking around school. Please ensure that drives are not blocked and that you take care when parking.

Runshaw are offering free maths courses for parents: to help them support their child’s learning and homework.

There would be 3 sessions per year group, working through all the year groups.

Then a second year to follow.

1 hour per session, up to 20 parents per session.

They’ve got DfE funding – the scheme is called Multiply.
