Good Friday everyone.... what a week, both locally, internally and nationally.

As we notice the autumn leaves surrendering to the brisk winds of change, painting the ground with vibrant hues, and David Cameron becomes Foreign Secretary,  we are reminded of the transient nature of life's seasons, and events.

In the same way, the minds of our young learners at St. George’s and Wrightington Mossy Lea are shedding old ideas, making room for new growth and understanding. Just as the fallen leaves nurture the soil for spring’s renewal, our past experiences lay the groundwork for future learning and growth. It is in this cycle of change and renewal that we find the true beauty of education and personal development—a process we are all a part of, regardless of age. THe cirlce of life never stops turning.....

In other news,  if you havent yet done so, may I offer a reminder for parents to make the payment for the books from the book fair online with the QR code or the link https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay/1253985

Remembrance was lovely last week in school. The worship in school was beautiful, as was the visit of class 5 to The Cenotaph.

Thank you for Parents’ Evening. Thank you for your questions, thank you for you support. Thank you for being a massive, integral part of the team. Thank you for making St George's what it is, and we wouldn't be what we are, without you being what youa re. So Thanks you.

At the risk of repeating myself, I must again recognise how amazingly the children are working. They are passionate, calm, respectful and developing incredibly. The classrooms are electric, the behaviour is exemplary and energy levels are soaring. Behaviour at St. George’s has been incredible for a long time now, yet each day I'm grateful, and so proud of it - it's not something I ever take for granted. It makes an incalculable difference to the learning of the kids, and the atmosphere in the school.

We usually give out the free school meals and pupil premium forms at the November Parents' Evening, but alas, we forgot this year. So the link to the form is attached below If you are entitled please complete the online form - sadly my motivation is 2 fold.... getting you and your child what you're entitled to, but, alas, im ashamed to say, the completion of the forms makes a positive difference to the school's budget.

Click here to be take to Lancashire web page for applying. You can get pupil premium money for school if you or your child:

For Free School Meals, which is one category for Pupil Premium Funding

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Universal Credit with a household income of less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
  • Income-Based Jobseekers' Allowance
  • Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit, not entitled to Working Tax Credit and household income less than £16,190
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Working Tax Credit 'run on' – the payment you receive for a further four weeks after you finish work

You can also claim Pupil Premium funding if your child is, or was previously looked after by a local authority. If this is the case, and you don't mind, please call into the office and inform myself or Sharon.

We'll be having some minor work down around the MUGA, and Junior Yard from the end of November for a couple of weeks. We're going to try and sort, and improve the drainage system, tarmac the stone entrance path, and widen the path around the MUGA, making it, perhaps, more suitable for running club. Of course there will be some minor disruption whilst the work is carried out.

This project is a joint funded project, with money coming from:

The Diocese

The Church

The PTFA

The School

Thank you all very much indeed for making this project possible.

Some additional news from the PTFA re the Fair. Firstly, please check in the notes on the calendar for further details.

Plus:

"Hi all! It’s the time of the year where we look for raffle prize donations for the Xmas fair, if anyone knows company’s who will donate pls can you let me know? We have a letter from school if needed. Thanks all 🎅" (If you are able to donate a raffle prize, then one option could be to drop it directly into school, and we will let the PTFA know!)

RESIDENTIALS PAYMENTS - BIBBYS AND PGL

There are still two or three outstanding balances for PGL, for the current year 6. If these could be paid off please, that would be appreciated.

For the current year 5, and the current year 2's the window has now opened to begin to pay for the residentials. You can pay off any amount as you can, as long as a deposit of £60.00 is paid before the end of term for both visits, and the cost is paid in full before departure - please contact school if you require support in making these payment.

PGL         £275.00

Bibby's    £120.00

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, take care,

Andy
