Be determined and confident,as God will be with you* as we learn, care and share through work, play and prayer. (*Deuteronomy 31:6)

PLEASE WORK WITH ME ON THIS ONE..... HAVE YOU DONE THIS?

IF NOT PLEASE DO IT BEFORE YOU READ THE REST OF THE NEWSLETTER!!!

The Diocese are going to be doing a video of school life here at St George's following our Inspection.

We're lucky at St George's I know that. The vast majority of parents really do work with us, the kids are amazing, and the staff are phenominal. We really do have something worth protecting. Other schools may not be as lucky perhaps, getting bogged down with numerous negative disputes with parents, or spending a lot of time on supporting kids with attitudes to learning, or they may have a young staff, or a new headteacher - and theyre faced with inspection. Yuk!

The diocese are going to film snap shots of our life to try and support, refresh, insprie , or indeed to reassure other schools. The videos will go beyond our school. It will be hosted on Blackburn Site, but could go further afield if they are useful.

A "trip" has been set up on SCOpay - can you please either give consent, if Diocese can video your child, please decline consent if they can't.

Please!?!

Dear Parent/ Carer - a message from the school nurses

The Lancashire Healthy Young People and Families Service is developing better ways to understand and support the direct care and health and wellbeing of children and young people within schools. To help us achieve this, we will be continuing to undertake the School Health Needs Assessment Programme. This allows us to assess the health and social care needs of children in Reception, Year 6, and Year 9.

A health needs assessment questionnaire has been designed in collaboration with the Public Health Team at Lancashire County Council for children who wish to participate in the school health needs assessment programme. The questionnaire is completed online (via the Lancashire County Council secure portal) in class, by your child, regarding their health and well-being.

This can be viewed on HCRG Care Group’s website via the following link: https://lancsyoungpeoplefamilyservice.co.uk/school-nursing/

The school health needs assessment programme provides vital information to help us improve the direct care and support for individual children and for the whole age group. The Healthy Young People and Families Team review the completed questionnaires to identify children or families who would benefit from some support. An anonymised School report is shared with the schools so they can understand their school’s health needs. The anonymised information from the questionnaires also allows the health team to see any common issues that might help us improve the services we provide as your child transitions into High School. Questionnaires are treated in the same way as all children’s health information and are stored confidentially in the child’s health records. We will attempt to contact you by letter if, as a result of the questionnaire, your child wishes to speak with a nurse or if we feel our support may be beneficial. If we don’t hear back from you at that time, we will offer initial support to your child but please be assured that we will contact you if there is anything that requires further discussion.

If you do not wish your child to complete the questionnaire or you would like to speak to your school nursing team, please contact us on the number above. Marianne Shaw: Service Integration Manager

Sports days

Following the huge success of last year's sports day, and the kind generosity of Albany Academy, we will once again be hosting both sports days at Albany (although I must confess they don't know yet!)  It's great, and the kids loved it last year.

Sports Days. CONFIRMED DATES 25th, 26th June

Weather permitting, and following permission from Albany our sports days will be held on 25th (Infants)  and 26th June for the Juniors, in the mornings, both starting at approx. 9.30am. over at Albany High School.

Children will meet at school as usual in the mornings. School staff will escort the children to Albany, where sports day will take its usual form.

All children should come to school ready in team colour polo if they have, if not a plain T shirt of the same colour, PE shorts and pumps or trainers. They can stay in this all day so no need for uniform.

If we are lucky enough to have the sun shining please make sure that your child has had sun cream applied before school and that they are wearing a hat/cap.

Come along and support us and join in the fun!

Alas, there will be no chairs available, so either bring a blanket, bring your own garden chairs, or sit on the grass banking over at Albany. Should you require any chairs from school pop over and Martin will sort you out, and please remember, toilets are for childrens' use only. Should you need the loo, you’re going to have to pop to our school. Sorry.

SUMMER FAIR ------------It’s that time of year again!

A lot of work, a lot of fun and a lot of funds raised!

In the run up to the Summer Fair (Monday 8th July) we have 3 non-uniform Fridays planned—21st June, 28th June and 5th July. In return for the children coming in their own clothes we ask for contributions for the school fair.

For those of you new to the school, it runs like the Christmas Fair; we do not charge any money for the days, but ask if you would mind supplying us with bottles, clean re-useable, or new soft toys, books, games, chocolates, toiletries, or any prizes that can be used for the tombola stall.

There will be details shortly of how you can help both in the run up and on the evening itself.

The PTFA are great - to be honest I've worked with some wonderful PTFAs, including the current one. I remember fondly the 1st PTFA I worked with at St George's, very different to our current one, but equally lovely.

Some members of our current PTFA will be looking at leaving us after this Fair, so I really would welcome a fresh, new group of people who are willing to work with school to lead the PTFA. You can bring your own ideas, your own skill set and do it your way.... there's no need to follow in the footsteps of the current PTFA. So, if you're interested in finding out more, then come and meet the PTFA, in the new year, and help take it in your direction.

As we reach the end of this term, I am filled with pride and gratitude for our incredible school . The spirit of Pentecost reminds us that "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you" (Acts 1:8), symbolising renewal and the strength we gain from working together, and the lacunas we create when we don't. Our kids have shown remarkable resilience and enthusiasm, embracing each challenge with the bravery of heroes from our favourite films.

Our approach of collaborating with parents has truly made a difference, creating an environment where every child can thrive. As Dory from Finding Nemo says, "Just keep swimming." Let’s carry this spirit of perseverance and positivity forward.

Wishing everyone a happy and restful half term. Thank you for your unwavering support and for being part of this amazing journey.

Andy
