Remembering Si Newell

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our friend and governor, Si Newell, passed away peacefully on Sunday 28th June 2026.

Si served St George's with unwavering commitment, kindness and wisdom. He cared deeply about our school, our kids, our staff and our wider community, and his quiet influence helped shape the school we are today.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa, Freya and all of Si's family at this incredibly difficult time.

Si's funeral service will take place at St George's Church, Chorley, on Wednesday 15th July at 1.30pm, prior to committal at Charnock Richard Crematorium.

As a school family, we give thanks for Si's life, his friendship and his service.

May Si rest in peace, and rise in glory.
