Welcome to this week's newsletter! St George's continues to shine brightly, much like the spring sunshine and the excitement of the Euros 2024. With the same energy and enthusiasm that fills the air during these thrilling football matches, the kids, and staff have been exceptional. From creative projects to sports achievements, the spirit of our school is truly something to celebrate. Let's carry this momentum forward, inspired by the vibrant growth around us and the collective efforts of our fantastic community. Here’s to another week of brilliance and joy!

During our Sports week (1st – 5th July) we will be undertaking some sponsored events to raise money for elite athletes as part of the Sports for Champions organisation.

We will be completing a fitness circuit with them. We will also be completing skipping challenges and an obstacle course challenge as well as trying many other sports and challenging ourselves.

If you would like to sponsor your child, please complete the sponsor form below and return it with any money to school by 1st July in the envelope provided.

Any money raised will be divided between Sports for champions and go towards sports equipment in school.

Thank you

**🎉 Summer Fair is Fast Approaching! 🎉**

To get ready for the fair, we will have 3 non-uniform days on:

- Friday, 21st June

- Friday, 28th June

- Friday, 5th July

We are looking for donations of tombola items, chocolate tombola items, and prizes.

Please don't feel you have to spend a fortune. Have a look in the back of your cupboards; you might find something perfect to donate!

Thank you for your support! 🌞

PTFA News – The Summer Fair

Monday 8th July

The PTFA pulled off a phenomenal Fair at Christmas didn't they? Every single penny raised at that Fair, went to the new IPADs which are now useable, and massively beneficial.  Thank you so much. This is something that we would have never achieved with the PTFA who raised funds for it, and then organised it - amazing.

The fair is It now on the Calendar. Funds this year will continue to develop the Junior Playground. As a school we will be removing the shelter and greenhouse, and returning to a lovely, beautiful quiet area, with a small greenhouse! The structure was only temporary, and was built during COVID, to enable out door learning. The greenhouse, a brilliant project, will be demolished, as it is becoming damaged etc, and replaced with a smaller greenhouse that will complement our Forest School work.

We have 3 “non uniform” days , these are calendared, thanks to Simon Newell, and Naomi who keep the website much more up to date than I ever did.  For those of you new to the school, we do not charge any money for the days, but ask if you would mind supplying us with bottles, any unused, or new soft toys, books, games, chocolates, toiletries, or any prizes that can be used for the tombola stall—just like we did at Christmas!

We won't be selling programmes this year, instead we will be charging £1.00 per family entrance fee, with us entering from the Junior Yard gate..

Raffle ticket will be sent over coming weeks! Prizes to be announced… Tickets are £1 a strip, please write your name on the reverse of your strips and return to school along with the money. Further tickets can be obtained from the office.

We are always looking for new sponsors to provide prizes for our raffles. If you, or the company you work for are able to provide a suitable prize, please contact me, or any member of the PTFA!

Can you provide us with any cakes, or refreshments of any type to sell at the Fair?  These would be most gratefully received in school, on the Monday of the Fair. We did struggle with this at Christmas; I think it's a tradition that hasn't reignited post Covid. The cake stall previously a massive part of the Fair with all kinds of cakes sold. We really do rely on your donations here - so please, if you are able, can you do some baking please of anything - and send it in. If you can include the ingredients please that would be great, especially Nuts etc......

And finally… if nothing else; please come to school and support the PTFA in this major fundraising event!  The fair will open at 6.00pm, and will be phenomenal. I know how hard the PTFA are working. I   look forward to seeing you there!  Let’s hope for great summer weather….

Stalls will be outside, on the MUGA, like they were at Christmas. Refreshments in the hall; year 6 games will be on the MUGA and Junior Yard this year - they're going for it this year, and are trying to make more than £60.00 on an enterprise project.

There will also be Fair Rides which will be on  the Junior Yard

The ice cream van will be on the Junior Yard

Pony rides will be on the infant yard with other exciting stalls including Face paints, Henna and Tattoos.

You will be able to access the school hall from the Infant or Junior Yard, cutting through school if necessary! Both entrances will be supervised for the 1st 30 minutes of the Fair whilst parents are admitted - £1.00 per family

We will be asking for volunteers to help us set up, ticket up etc, manage stalls etc and this is another occasion when we really do rely upon your help.

I will ask Naomi to do this via Forms, again like we did at Christmas.

Change of Venue for Year 6 Production:

Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts and a lack of available rehearsal times at the church hall, we have made the decision to move the venue for the Year 6 production to the school hall.

On a positive note, hosting the production in our familiar school hall presents a wonderful opportunity. It eliminates the need for additional walks to the church for rehearsals and makes the evening more convenient for everyone. We believe that being in a familiar setting will enhance the experience for both the performers and the audience, creating a comfortable and intimate atmosphere.

We are confident that the school hall will provide a suitable and enjoyable environment for this special evening. All other details regarding the production, including dates and times, remain unchanged: Tuesday 16th July, starting at 7pm. (Year 6 will need to be here from 6:30pm)

Please note that tickets will be restricted due to fire regulations. Each child will receive 2 tickets for the performance. The entire performance will be available to watch on Zoom - further details of how to access this will be emailed to you nearer the time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact school. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

The Year 6 team

MaY I inform you that Sharon, our School Bursar, is currently off sick. We have a solid plan in place to ensure everything runs smoothly. Amy will be stepping in to cover Sharon's responsibilities, and Robbie will be taking over Amy's TA hours. Please continue with your normal routines, knowing that while we will get everything done, it might just take a bit longer than usual. Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.

To make life a little easier we have added a quick link to the home page for you to access SCO pay. Lovely.

I’d like to take a moment to share about Simon Newell, one of our dedicated governors and a close friend of mine, who is currently battling cancer. Simon began his chemotherapy today, showing incredible strength and faith. In times like these, we are reminded of the power of prayer and community.

As it says in Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Let's all keep Simon in our prayers, asking for God's healing and comfort. On a lighter note, remember the wise words from Finding Nemo: "Just keep swimming."

If you want to email Simon a good luck message click here, it will go direct to him!

Simon's courage and positivity are a testament to his faith, and we look forward to seeing his smiling face back at school soon.

Stay strong, Simon; we are with you.
