As we open the final newsletter of the year, although I will write to you next week, I am filled with gratitude and pride for our incredible community. Our Year 6 children recently celebrated their Confirmation, a moment of faith and promise that echoes Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This sacred milestone exemplifies the spiritual growth we've nurtured together.

Year 1’s adventurous trip to Eureka and Year 3’s exploration of Ribchester brought learning to life in the most vivid ways. These excursions not only expanded their knowledge but also sparked joy and curiosity, demonstrating that education extends beyond the classroom. Our ukulele concert showcased the joyful talents of our pupils, filling the halls with music and pride.

I am thrilled to announce that our SATs results across all phases of the school are phenomenal. While SATs are perhaps more useful as a test of the school than individual children, and despite some faults in the system, all indicators are tremendous, and the kids themselves have done tremendous.  This is a testament to the coruscating efforts of our staff and children. The dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm shown by everyone have truly been extraordinary.

To all parents, staff, and governors, your dedication and support have been the backbone of our success. Much like the Avengers assembling to protect and uplift, our team—our family—works together tirelessly for the benefit of our children. The collaboration, commitment, and mutual respect we share create an environment where every child can thrive.

As we gear up for the weekend, let's wish England all the best in the Euro final! The success of our female football team cannot be forgotten, but we are all very much behind the lads as they aim for similar glory. To make sure everyone can enjoy the match, children are welcome to come to school at their normal time on Monday or any time up to 10:30am if they have a late night celebrating.

Thank you for making St. George's a beacon of community spirit and educational excellence. As we conclude this academic year, let’s reflect on our achievements with pride and look forward to a future filled with promise and possibility. Here’s to another year of brilliance, growth, and joy at St. George's!

With warmest regards,

Andy

Separately, we also ask that any remaining debts for trips or residential activities be paid before the end of term. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Year 6 Run Down

Y6 Production: Tuesday 16th July 7pm

This will take place in the School Hall - Year 6 children will be asked to arrive from 6:30 through the main reception doors. Each child will be given 2 tickets - please can the audience enter through the hall doors. It will be Zoomed out as well - the link will be sent via email/seesaw on Monday 15th July. There will be a short presentation after the performance for our Year 6 leavers.

Wednesday 17th July 8:40am CHANGE OF PLANS

As you know it is now a tradition that the last Wednesdayof every half term, we hold a service in school. We thought, after we'd realised, that it would be lovely for the Y6#s who got confirmed to received Holy Communion with us staff in the service in school, hence the change of plan, plus, I guess, it's easier for yourselves?

Y6 Bowling: Thursday 18th July

A permission letter is on its way via Forms. The children will be walking up from school to Escape and will be back in time for usual school lunch.

Y6 disco and sleepover: Thursday 18th July. Year 6 to come back to school at 7pm

Children to have their tea at home and then arrive in their disco gear, with their things for the sleepover and school uniform for their final day. Enter through the main office. They may also wish to pack a spare TShirt/jumper and a sharpie that can be signed by their friends on the final day. There will be snacks and drinks provided during the disco and normal school rules will apply on mobile phones - if they need it for the next day, we will keep it in the safe in the office overnight.

Please note: Y6 Teachers will sort out rooming for the kids - do not worry about this, it's our call!

Y6 Blessing: Friday 19th July 8am

(All Year 6 Adults welcome) 8AM in school hall - enter through the hall doors. Sausage and Bacon Butties served and Rev Mike will bless the Y6's before they begin their final day at St. G's. Please can adults take home all of their children's sleepover belongings at this time.

As mentioned above, the children will be able to sign a spare jumper/tshirt on the final day. Sharpies are the best to do this and we don't have any in school - please send your child in with a suitable permanent pen.

The children will be dismissed in the usual way at 3:15 on Friday 19th July. Please, as always, let us know if there are any changes in your child's dismissal.

As the kids move up a year group, there are some changes for the new years 3's.

Remember that you now need to pay for school meals - unless of course you're entitled to FSM. The Universal free school meals only apply to infant kids.

remember to claim for free school meals even if you're in the infants - it does help the school budget out to be honest!

Year 3 School Meals

Leanne and the catering team prove that with the right people, the right determination, and by working together one can make a difference. This year, the number of kids having schools meals has been the highest we've ever known. Its been amazing. They do a stunning job in the kitchen.  Refudbishing the kitchen has made it onto the school development plan at long last  - and this is something we hope to do during Autumn Term keeping dinners hotter, fresher for longer, and serving them in modern, convenient plates and bowels. Should be lovely, if we can afford to do it!

As Year 2 children move into the juniors they will no longer be entitled to a universal free school meal. School meals for Junior kids will be charged at £2.70 (I think) per day from September. Junior kids have 4 choices, a meat choice, a veggie choice, a Jacket Potatoe or a grab and go sandwich bag. Your child can choose what they want each day, on the day, or pre book. Kids on school meals are given a coloured wrist band that corresponds to their choice of food....

As implied above,  sadly we are having to increase the cost of things.

In line with lancashire guidance, to break even we are having to increase the cost of school meals. From September school meals will cost £2.70 per day, which to be honest is still very good value. The usual 4 choices are available for Junior kids - we include a sandwich grab and go bag for them to choose from. Children in year 3 onwards choose their meal on the day. The menu is posted on SCO pay

We are also increasing the cost of wrap around care, once again, to cover the increase in salary, and food costs.

Breakfast club will rise to  £5.70

There are 2 charges for late stay - £5.70  if picked up before 4.30pm, and £7.70 for the 5.30pm pick up.

Writing at pace folks, Im unsure if I've forgotten to let you know about Katie's little girl. Sorry - she's almost 1 now!

Katie says, "Eck and I welcomed our little girl, Ailsa Thomson, into our family on (the Wednesday of half term - 4 days after Katie had finished!)  She was born at home (as planned) at 20:20, weighing 6lbs 11oz. It was the most wonderful birth and we are so very in love and enjoying our time tucked up at home together 🥰 💕"
