As we draw the curtain on what can only be described as a pacey term, (even im thinking, we're off again.... I've only just come back) I would like to take a moment to reflect on our shared journey. It has been a delightful mixture of learning and laughter, with each day presenting us with opportunities to grow and flourish as a community. The kids have shown resilience and curiosity, igniting a passion for learning that never ceases to amaze me - and they've been led beautifully by our Year 6's.

I once again extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our staff, who have gone above and beyond to create an inspiring environment for your most treasured possessions. Your unwavering support and commitment never go unnoticed, and it is a joy to witness the passion you bring into your teaching. It is crucial to remember that what we have at St George's does not simply happen by chance—it is crafted through the hard work and dedication of each member of our community. We must not take for granted the rich tapestry we have woven together, as it is a treasure that deserves our utmost care.

This term, I was reminded of a thoughtful sentiment from Ted Lasso: "It's the small things in life that ultimately make the big things happen." In other words, let us take a moment to appreciate the little joys and triumphs, as they create the foundation for lasting happiness and success. If we focus on gratitude, we can enhance our perspectives and fortify our bonds with one another. It is vital that we appreciate what we have, nurture it, and approach each day with a mindset that seeks to improve rather than harm.

As we look towards the future, I am also inspired by the Biblical wisdom from Proverbs 27:17, "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." This verse encapsulates the essence of our community spirit—reminding us that through collaboration and support, we make each other better.

Perhaps our journey is like a well-tended garden: it requires patience, care, and sometimes a sprinkle of humour to flourish. As we head into the break, let us carry forward the lessons learned, nurturing not just the kids, but one another. Wishing you all a restful and rejuvenating holiday!

Andy

*Persistence Absence is an attendance rate less than 90%. Over the course of the year this means the child will miss on average almost 4 weeks of school a year.

Support Needed for Our Walk to All Saints

We have a marginally exciting event planned for our Infants on Friday, 1st November 2024! The children will be taking a lovely walk to All Saints Church, our second church in the parish, and we’d love for you to join us - in fact we could do with your help! We'll be setting off from school at around 9:30 am and plan to be back by 12 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for our little ones to experience the local community and enjoy a service led by Fr Jordan, who always engages the children beautifully.

To ensure that the children have a safe and enjoyable experience, we are reaching out for your support. If you can spare some time to accompany us on the walk, it would be greatly appreciated. Your presence not only helps with supervision but also adds to the excitement of this outing for our Infants. Together, we can make it a memorable day for everyone involved.

If you're available to help out, please email Andy and ensure you are in school by 9:30 am. We’ll be meeting in the staffroom before heading off to All Saints. Every bit of support makes a difference; thank you in advance for considering assisting us in this lovely event. We look forward to seeing as many faces as possible!

Advisory Note: Slapped Cheek Disease Outbreak in School

We wish to inform you that there has been an increase in cases of Slapped Cheek Disease (erythema infectiosum) observed within our school community. This contagious viral infection, primarily caused by the parvovirus B19, is particularly prevalent amongst children, typically affecting those aged between 5 and 15 years.

Slapped Cheek Disease is characterised by a distinctive rash, which often begins with bright red cheeks resembling a slap mark, hence the name. This may be accompanied by a mild fever, headache, and sore throat in the initial stages, followed by a lacy, itchy rash that can emerge on the trunk and limbs. It is important to note that the infection is most contagious before the rash appears, making it difficult to identify and contain.

While Slapped Cheek Disease is usually mild and self-limiting, it can pose risks for certain individuals, including those with weakened immune systems or specific blood conditions. Pregnant women are also advised to seek medical guidance if exposed, as the virus could have implications for the unborn child.

We encourage all parents to keep a vigilant eye on their children for any signs of symptoms and to seek medical advice if necessary. In the event of a diagnosis, it is prudent to keep affected children at home until they feel better to reduce the spread of infection within the school.

Thank you for your cooperation and vigilance in ensuring the health and well-being of our school community.

A Year 6 pupil is missing their black Under Armour coat, last seen in the Year 6 cloakroom. Despite efforts to locate it, the coat has not been found.

We kindly request that you check your homes and personal belongings for this item. If you find a coat matching the description in the accompanying picture, please return it to the school office. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in helping us reunite the coat with its owner.

Thank you for your support.

Im trying a little something. At the end of a half term/ start of a new term im going to come up with some posters and phrases that I will try and latch things onto in school to help the kids develop mentally. As with all things, i'll give it a try, something work and stick, some dont. Lets see how this pans out. Save the posters as screensavers? Print them out, stick them on your fridge? Use them yourselves..... Let's try it and see how it goes...

Next term, we are excited to introduce three new motivational posters across our school and wider community, reinforcing key values that we believe are vital to every child's growth, both academically and personally. These posters will not only be displayed on my office door, but will also be available on screensavers and our newsletter, so the messages reach every corner of our community.

Poster 1: "Celebrate Others' Success"
When you find yourself behind, don't be disheartened. Instead, celebrate the success of those who are ahead. Encourage them, help them go even further, and in doing so, we all rise together. This poster teaches our kids the importance of cheering each other on, knowing that lifting others up is a victory for us all. It’s a powerful reminder of the joy in teamwork and unity.

Poster 2: "Lift as You Climb"
For those who are ahead, it's easy to focus solely on your own journey. But we encourage our children to remember that real leadership is about reaching back and helping others on their way up. This poster illustrates the power of community and empathy – that we all rise higher when we lift each other. It's a wonderful message of leadership and support.

Poster 3: "Be the Person You Want to Meet"
Self-awareness is key to personal growth. This poster asks everyone to reflect on how they come across to others. Are we showing kindness, empathy, and respect in our daily actions? Just as Ted Lasso once said, “Be curious, not judgmental.” This message empowers our kids to actively think about how their behaviour shapes the world around them.

These three values—celebrating others, lifting others, and being mindful of how we impact those around us—are at the heart of everything we do. We invite all parents, carers, and members of the community to embrace these messages alongside our children as we build a nurturing, supportive, and uplifting environment together.

As we wrap up this term, I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you—kids, staff, and parents—for making it a fantastic journey. As Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you're gonna get," and this term has certainly been full of surprises, growth, and achievements.

As we move forward, let’s remember Galatians 6:9: "Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Here's to a well-deserved break and even more successes ahead!

All th every best, and my sincere thanks to you all,

Take it easy,

Andy
