It’s been a wonderfully action-packed week at St George’s, and the atmosphere around school has been positively buzzing! The children have thrown themselves into their learning with such enthusiasm, and it’s always a joy to witness their dedication and curiosity.

This week, we also had the pleasure of hosting Parents’ Evening. While it’s true that the phrase, "Only one more hour to go!" often echoes in jest through the corridors, I must share a little secret: the staff absolutely love Parents' Evenings. These moments are about more than sharing progress and targets. They’re about celebrating the remarkable achievements of your children and reinforcing the sense of partnership that underpins our community.

Every conversation, every smile, every shared anecdote reminds us of the strength in the unity between home and school. It fills the children with confidence, knowing that we stand together—one team, one mission: their success, happiness, and growth. Your support, as always, leaves us deeply grateful and reassured. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey.

As the Bible beautifully says in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Together, we are creating something truly special, lifting each other and our children to greater heights.

Be sure to check out the news strip below to see what exciting things our classes have been up to—it’s been another cracking week at St George’s!

Book Fair Success: Supporting a Love of Reading

The book fair, currently residing in our school library, has been a phenomenal success, raising an incredible sum over the past two days. Not only does this event offer our children a special treat during this important week, but it also generates vital funds to support school development.

The proceeds from the Scholastic Book Fair are directly reinvested into purchasing class sets of novels for our daily shared reading sessions. Every day at 1:10 pm, the entire school pauses to enjoy the magic of reading together. Thanks to your generosity, we can ensure that instead of relying solely on photocopied excerpts or Kindle displays, children can experience the joy of holding a physical book, sharing it with a partner, and immersing themselves in a shared story.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the fair. Over the past two days, you spent an astounding £1,300, which means the school will receive £650 in commission. These funds will make a tangible difference, enriching the reading experience for every child. Thank you for fostering a love of literature in our school community!

Forest Schools Update

We’re thrilled to share the exciting progress Carole Glover is making with our Forest School accreditation project. Her passion and dedication have sparked a wonderful wave of enthusiasm amongst our staff, with more teachers eagerly embracing forest school sessions for their classes.

Hot on the heels of Class 8’s Anglo-Saxon Day on the 29th of November, we’re delighted to announce that Class 3 has also booked an immersive session with Carole. This time, the focus will be on the Great Fire of London—a hands-on outdoor experience that promises to bring history alive in the most imaginative way. We’ll share further details in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for what’s sure to be an unforgettable adventure.

Though we’re just at the beginning of this journey, the seeds of something truly remarkable are already taking root. Thank you for your ongoing support, and a heartfelt round of applause for Carole, whose hard work and vision are truly making this initiative flourish!

Below is a link to the ScoPay guide if you are unsure how to make your selections.

Many thanks in advance!!

Can you help setting up on the day of the fair please? If you can, scan the code and sign up! Full support by the PTFA organisers will be offered, and a free lunch at lunch time. All day, mornings, or afternoons would be greatly appreciated.

Appeal from the PTFA for the next non-uniform day (Friday 29th November).

As part of our preparations for upcoming events, the PTFA would like to kindly request donations for next week’s non-uniform day. While all contributions are warmly welcomed, we’re particularly in need of chocolate and bottles.

Your generosity makes such a difference, and every single donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for supporting the school and PTFA efforts!
