Friday the 24th of January, and what a week it’s been! The world keeps turning, and Donald has once again taken the oath as President of the United States—a reminder that, in life, unexpected twists and turns are inevitable. Whether you view it as a smooth highway or a bumpy road, it’s all part of the journey, and as we know at St. George’s, and Mossy Lea, it’s not the destination that defines us but how we travel along the way.

Speaking of journeys, I’ve embarked on a new one myself—I’ve bought a motorhome! It’s exciting, slightly terrifying, and a brilliant metaphor for life. A motorhome offers freedom, adventure, and the chance to discover new places. But it also requires planning, teamwork, and a willingness to navigate the unexpected. Much like our journey as a school community, it’s all about moving forward together—sometimes we cruise effortlessly, and other times we hit potholes. The important thing is how we keep rolling, supporting one another along the way.

As we move through this term, let’s take inspiration from the journeys we’re on, both individually and collectively. Every mile brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference. Remember Ecclesiastes 3:1: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” This season is ours to make something special of.

So, buckle up, embrace the ride, and let’s keep working together to make St. George’s a place of hope, kindness, and adventure. Who knows what’s around the next bend—but I, for one, am excited to find out! 🚐✨

The recent Ofsted inspection, over at Mossy, while anticipated, has left us feeling immensely gratified and quietly elated. Though we must exercise reticence in sharing specifics until the report is officially published, it would be remiss not to acknowledge the Herculean effort of the Mossy Lea staff, whose dedication is nothing short of monumental. Equally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the St George’s team, whose support exemplified the power of collaboration—true synergy in action. Our gratitude also extends to our Governors, whose sagacious guidance has been a cornerstone, and to our parents, who continuously champion our shared vision.

Most importantly, our kids were, as always, an absolute cornucopia of joy, curiosity, and resilience. This inspection has highlighted what we already knew: that Mossy Lea is a small but mighty community, thriving on unity, perseverance, and a shared commitment to excellence. Thank you all for making this possible!

I'll publish the report when I can

A huge congratulations to Nic Gregson, who has been appointed as our permanent Deputy Headteacher following this week’s interviews. Nic has been an outstanding Acting Deputy Headteacher, demonstrating leadership, dedication, and a genuine commitment to the children, staff, and families of St. George’s. While some cynics might think this was a foregone conclusion, I can assure you it wasn't. The process was as rigorous as it was fair. Nic earned this position not just through the strength of her application and interview but through the consistent excellence she brings to her work every single day. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our leadership team, and I am confident she will continue to help drive our school forward with passion, kindness, and vision. Well done, Nic—you’ve earned it!

🧶Calling any knitters! 🧶

I am wondering if anyone in our wonderful school community would be willing to knit a long scarf for St Georges. I would like it to be in 5 specific block colours (dark pink/red, orange, blue, green and purple) to represent the 5 values of Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship.

If you think you could help, please get in touch or email me:

Thank you!

Education Sunday is fast approaching

9th February... See you there!

We look forward to seeing the whole St George's Community - church and school together. Ethos Group will be leading the service but we ask all of the children to come to St George's Church, for a 9:30am start, wearing full school uniform.

It might not be your first choice of things to do on a Sunday morning, but, as a Church school, we do ask that you support us for Education Sunday, once a year. If your child cannot attend, please send your apologies to their class teacher, so we know who to expect on the day.

It's been a very mixed week on morning MUGA, with, quite inexplicably children being left unsupervised on there. I must, for one final time remind you that children must be supervised on the MUGA, and playgrounds before 8.45am. Thanks to those who do supervise their children. Should you require child care prior to 8.45am plese use breakfast club.

Forgive me, but unfortunately if this doesn't settled I will ask Martin to leave the MUGA locked until the start of school, and to be honest, that seems a shame...
