Welcome to this week’s newsletter!

Friday the 31st of January—how did we get here so quickly? As I reflect on this week, I can’t help but think of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Much like that famous little character, we’ve been busily working our way through this term, devouring challenges, gobbling up opportunities, and growing stronger with every step. It’s a reminder that each small, seemingly simple task builds into something greater—whether it’s the children mastering a tricky topic, staff finding creative solutions, or parents supporting us in countless ways.

And just like the caterpillar’s transformation into a butterfly, we’re seeing growth everywhere at St. George’s—new skills, fresh confidence, and the joy of progress. Let’s keep taking small bites out of the challenges ahead, knowing that every effort adds up to something extraordinary. Here’s to a fantastic end to January and the exciting possibilities that February will bring!

Subject: 🎶 MUGA, MUGA, MUGA… Must Be Funny? 🎶

(To the tune of "Money, Money, Money")

🎶 MUGA, MUGA, MUGA… in the morning light,
Kids all running, jumping, oh what a sight!
But we’ve got some problems, rules aren’t being kept,
If this keeps on happening, the gates will soon be shut… 🎶

Chorus:
Supervise your children, before the bell at nine,
Make sure they’re safe and playing fine!
No hands, no feet, no pushing too,
Or the MUGA gets locked, and that’s bad news!

🎶 We love to keep it open, it’s really quite a treat,
But rules need to be followed – let’s keep it neat!
So parents please remember, the rules are here to stay,
Or the MUGA gets locked away… 🎶

In all seriousness, folks – please supervise your children before 8.45am and make sure they follow school rules (no hands, no feet, no contact!). If issues continue, the MUGA will be locked in the mornings.

If you need morning childcare, Breakfast Club is open and a great option. Let’s get this right so the kids can keep enjoying it!

Thanks for your help – let’s keep MUGA open and fun for all!

I will be speaking ot the kids today, telling them we're in our final, last, final final chance....

Education Sunday is fast approaching

9th February... See you there!

We look forward to seeing the whole St George's Community - church and school together. Ethos Group will be leading the service but we ask all of the children to come to St George's Church, for a 9:30am start, wearing full school uniform.

It might not be your first choice of things to do on a Sunday morning, but, as a Church school, we do ask that you support us for Education Sunday, once a year. If your child cannot attend, please send your apologies to their class teacher, so we know who to expect on the day.

Calling any knitters! 🧶

I am wondering if anyone in our wonderful school community would be willing to knit a long scarf for St Georges. I would like it to be in 5 specific block colours (dark pink/red, orange, blue, green and purple) to represent the 5 values of Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship.

If you think you could help, please get in touch or email me:

Thank you!

I don't mean to patronise, but for what its worth thanks for your efforts with attendance. Theres a big push on it from Central Government, but because of the way we work, we are managing to approach each case with compassion, support and calmness. Let's keep this up! Let's keep our attendance sky high.... my thanks to you.

I believe it’s fine to bring dogs onto the playground—do you agree?

This week’s Yes, No, or Middle Niggle question: “I believe it’s fine to bring dogs onto the playground—do you agree?” Your feedback is important as we consider how to ensure the playground remains a welcoming and safe space for everyone. Whether you’re a confident yes, a hesitant middle niggle, or a definite no, let us know your thoughts. If you’d like to chat further, grab a coffee (I’m still on my cortado kick!)—your input matters!

The power of the ######

As we wrap up this week, I’d like to leave you with a simple idea, that i use, that could have a big impact: using the # to process the positives in your day. It’s a way to reflect on what you’ve done and what it says about who you are—a simple habit that can quietly build confidence, determination, and self-esteem. For example:

  • Today I comforted someone who was feeling down. This means I can #BeKind, just as Jesus asks us to love one another.
  • Today I tried again after failing the first time. This means I can #BeResilient because with God’s strength, I can keep going.
  • Today I did something I was scared to do. This means I can #BeBrave, knowing Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

It’s not about boasting or pretending everything’s perfect. It’s about quietly recognising what you’ve achieved and how that reflects the goodness within you. If we all did this—kids, staff, parents—just imagine how powerful we could be, how much self-belief we’d build. Because God’s message to us is clear: we are made with purpose, with gifts to share, and with the ability to make a difference every single day.

So, I challenge you: at the end of each day, find one positive, one moment that says something good about you, and remind yourself of it. Write it down, say it out loud, or even just whisper it in your heart. You are capable, you are determined, and you are loved. Let’s live like we believe it! #YouCanDoIt #WithGodAllThingsArePossible
