The Journey of Lent Begins

And just like that, we find ourselves standing at the starting line of Lent—a time of reflection, growth, and, for some, an ambitious attempt to give up chocolate (again) while secretly hoping Sundays don’t count.

Lent isn’t about just giving things up—it’s about making space for what truly matters. It’s a chance to reset, refocus, and step forward with purpose. As a school, as a community, and as individuals, it’s an opportunity to lift each other up, embrace kindness, and lean into hope.

The season reminds us of perseverance, renewal, and the power of faith—whether that’s faith in God, faith in each other, or faith in the fact that we might actually get a proper summer this year! As Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” And let’s face it, we’ll need that strength—to tackle challenges, to support one another, and to keep pushing forward in a world that sometimes feels just a little too busy.

So, let’s go into Lent together. Let’s be proud of our school, our community, our kids, and our collective determination to make a difference. There is so much to celebrate, so much to be thankful for, and so much still to achieve.

This half-term, let’s show up for one another, keep the faith, and remind ourselves why this school, this community, and this shared journey really do matter. Onward, together. 💙

May i congratulate our families whose kids have SEND  - equally impressive attendance. Well in kids

Phenomenal attendance this week—absolutely top class! 🎉 The kids have shown up, stepped up, and smashed it, proving once again that being here, together, makes all the difference. A huge thank you to everyone for making every single day count—keep it up, team St George’s! 💪💙

A Celebration of Faith, Unity & Understanding

What a phenomenal RE Focus Week it has been! We’ve welcomed visitors from different faiths, as well as Mossy Lea, stepped inside places of worship, and opened our minds and hearts to the incredible diversity of beliefs that shape our world. Our visit to the mosque was a highlight—such a welcoming, peaceful place, where our children listened, questioned, and learned about faith in action. With the start of Ramadan it was a perfect time to reflect on patience, self-discipline, and the strength of community that this sacred month represents for our Muslim families.

Each faith we’ve explored has had something truly remarkable about it:
🙏 Christianity teaches us about love, grace, and forgiveness—three things we could all use a little more of in daily life!
🕉️ Hinduism bursts with colour, tradition, and a deep sense of connection to all living things—a reminder that we’re all part of something bigger.
✡️ Judaism shows incredible resilience and tradition, with a rich history of storytelling and faith passed down through generations.
☪️ Islam speaks of devotion, discipline, and charity, reinforcing the importance of giving and supporting those in need.
☸️ Buddhism? Now there’s a faith I could get on board with! A focus on inner peace, mindfulness, and kindness—I mean, who wouldn’t want that in their daily life?

And if one thing has brought it all together, it’s been our Holi Dance Festival! There’s something incredibly powerful about throwing colours into the air and celebrating the simple fact that we are all the same—regardless of the colour of our skin, hair, or eyes. Different beliefs, different traditions, but at the heart of it all? Kindness, respect, and the hope that we can all live together in peace.

What a magnificent week of learning, respect, and celebration. The world is a big, beautiful place, and our children are stepping into it with open minds and open hearts. 💙

Pedal Power & Partnership – Our Work with SSP & Bikeability 🚴‍♂️

Our ongoing partnership with the School Sports Partnership (SSP) continues to bring fantastic opportunities for our children, and this week’s Bikeability sessions have been a shining example of that! From learning to ride safely on the roads to boosting confidence on two wheels, our kids have embraced the challenge, developed key life skills, and, most importantly, had a blast! 🚴💨 A huge thanks to the SSP coaches for their expert guidance and patience—the progress made has been phenomenal.

Ever noticed how a jigsaw piece on its own doesn’t make much sense? A few squiggly edges, some random colours—but slot it into place, and suddenly, it all fits. That’s us. That’s this school. Every child, every parent, every member of staff—we’re all part of something bigger, something brilliant.

This week, we’ve seen it in RE Focus Week, in phenomenal attendance, in the joy of learning together. We’ve celebrated faiths, shared experiences, and reminded ourselves that what truly matters is how we lift each other up.

So, as we step into another week, let’s keep slotting the pieces together. Let’s see the full picture, not just the odd tricky bit that doesn’t quite make sense yet. Because when we work together, this place isn’t just good—it’s outstanding.

“Let your light shine before others.” (Matthew 5:16) 💡

Have a fantastic weekend, St George’s—be proud of what we’re building here. 💙✨

Take care. Take care of yourselves, and of others,

Andy
