Strength, Spirit & Spring in the Air

Here we are, the second week of Lent, and everywhere you look, there are signs of growth—both in the world around us and in our children. The first hints of spring are creeping in, there’s excitement in the classrooms, and the school is buzzing with motivation and energy. RE Focus Week has been phenomenal, with children embracing faith, understanding, and the richness of different traditions. Curricular hooks have sparked curiosity, igniting passion for learning and proving once again that St George’s is a place where education isn’t just something we do—it’s something we live and breathe.

But, as we know, life brings its challenges too. Thomas Norris is taking compassionate leave to be with his mother as she battles an unexpected, and rapidly advancing illness. As always, we step up together—adjusting, supporting, and making sure our Year 6 children continue to thrive. Rob, Anne, and I will be stepping into the classroom, and while this means a few behind-the-scenes tweaks, we remain as committed as ever to making every day count.

Bob Marley said it best: “You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.” And that’s exactly what Thomas needs to be now, and your mates at school will lift you up when you return.

Let’s keep going, keep supporting each other, and keep making this journey one to be proud of. 💙✨

A Huge Thank You for Your Generosity!

We are delighted to share that our school community has once again demonstrated the true spirit of generosity and kindness. Following our Christmas production, we raised an incredible £266.20 for the Shepherd Street Trust, a charity that provides essential grants to support young people who may otherwise miss out on vital opportunities.

We recently received a lovely letter from the Trust, expressing their heartfelt thanks to our staff, pupils, and parents for their generosity. This is a brilliant reminder of what we can achieve when we come together as a school family to make a difference in the lives of others.

At St George’s, we talk a lot about our values of compassion, care, and community. This donation is proof that our actions speak louder than words. To everyone who contributed—thank you! You have helped to spread light and hope where it is needed most.

"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." (Hebrews 13:16)

Let’s keep making the world a better place—one act of kindness at a time. 💙✨

Standing Together, Moving Forward

If this week has shown us anything, it’s that St George’s is more than just a school—it’s a team, almost a family, certainly a community that rises to the challenge, lifts each other up, and keeps moving forward. We’ve seen it in the way children have thrown themselves into RE Focus Week, in the energy of our curricular hooks, and in the quiet, steady resilience of staff and parents who support one another through the ups and downs.

It’s easy to think that strength is about standing tall alone—but real strength? That’s about standing together. As Samwise Gamgee put it in The Lord of the Rings, “There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.” And that’s what we do—fight for good - we often miss it when we're looking for the negatives.

So as we head into another weekend, let’s keep looking out for each other, keep believing, and keep hope. Together, we are strong, determined, and more than ready for whatever comes next. 💙✨

Take it easy, and as always, thanks for your ongoing support and banter. Have a great weekend,

Andy
