Welcome to this week’s newsletter!

What a fantastic time to be part of our vibrant school community! As we step further into spring, there's a tangible buzz of positivity and excitement in the air. The progress our children have been making this term is nothing short of mind-blowing—each day brings new achievements, discoveries, and growth.

Our newly launched SCARF awards have been enthusiastically embraced, celebrating our core values of Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, and Friendship. These daily recognitions are already working their magic, giving our pupils a tangible sense of accomplishment and motivating them to shine even brighter.

And speaking of shining—this week, the song "Brave" by Sara Bareilles has been playing in the background of my thoughts. The lyrics are a rallying cry for every child and adult in our school: "Say what you wanna say, and let the words fall out—honestly, I wanna see you be brave." That’s exactly what we want here at St George’s: brave learners, brave teachers, brave choices, and brave voices.

Let’s keep galvanizing together—lifting each other, supporting one another, and creating a community where every child has the confidence to be their best self. As 'The Greatest Showman' reminds us: "It’s everything you ever want, it’s everything you ever need, and it’s here right in front of you." Let’s keep embracing that magic. Forward we go!

Sunday 27th April marks a rather special milestone—the bicentenary (yes, 200 years!) of our beloved St George's Church. To honour this remarkable occasion, we're inviting, and indeed pleading with, all families to join us for the Sunday service at St George's, beginning at 10.00am and lasting around an hour.

We'd love your support as the kids play their part: they'll be attending in full school uniform (hopefully!), sitting proudly with their classes at the front of the church, and singing beautifully during communion.

Now, I appreciate this might not be everyone's cup of tea—perhaps more Earl Grey than Yorkshire Gold for some—but we'd genuinely love to see you there. The service will be led by Bishop Joe, Bishop of Blackburn, and there's sure to be a wonderful, celebratory party atmosphere afterwards. Your presence really would mean a great deal to us, to the kids, and indeed to the entire St George’s family.

So please, if you can, rock up and help us make this a truly memorable morning for our community.

"How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1).

Warmest regards,

Andy

It's polling day on Thursday, however it's only local elections, so school is open as normal, as voting isn't as busy. Voting will take place in Mark Holmes' classroom. Morning entry, and dismissal will take place as normal, with more staff being out - and extra vigilant. We will organise break and lunch times separately, and internally, so that all children have break and lunch on the other side of the school, on the Junior playground.

As we wrap up this week, here’s something to ponder:

Let’s keep galvanizing together—lifting each other, supporting one another, and creating a community where every child has the confidence to be their best self. As 'The Greatest Showman' reminds us: "It’s everything you ever want, it’s everything you ever need, and it’s here right in front of you." Let’s keep embracing that magic. Forward we go!

And finally, a gentle reminder that our special church service is this Sunday at 10am, led by Bishop Joe. It promises to be a joyful celebration of faith and community—full school uniform, lots of singing, and a few surprises after the service. We’d love to see you all there!
