Welcome to This Week’s Newsletter – Logs, Long Weekends & Lots to Celebrate!

With blossom on the trees, children bounding into school with a little extra spring in their step, and a well-earned long weekend peeking just over the horizon, there’s a sense that this half term is hitting its stride.

School life has been packed with positivity—SCARF awards flying out left, right and centre, brilliant learning happening across the board, and a focus week that is now coming together - more details shortly!

The effects of Lent, and the joy of Easter continue to invite us to slow down and notice—notice growth, kindness, effort, and the simple joys we might otherwise miss. This week I’ve found myself humming “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley—“Don’t worry about a thing, ‘cause every little thing gonna be all right.” Not a bad mantra for school life!

Enjoy the long weekend when it comes—and let’s keep leaning in, showing up, and doing what we do best: lifting one another.

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that St George’s is now officially an accredited Forest School!

This marks an exciting new chapter in our journey to provide children with rich, meaningful experiences beyond the classroom. Rooted in Scandinavian educational practice, Forest School is all about nurturing confidence, resilience, creativity and independence through hands-on learning in the natural world. Whether it’s den-building, fire-lighting, exploring, problem-solving or simply having time to think in green spaces, the benefits for mental health, teamwork and personal growth are phenomenal. A huge thank you to Carol for leading the charge—your passion, perseverance and expertise have made this happen. Fab, fab, fab!

Let the forest adventures begin!

🐷 Pig-tastic News – It’s a Girl! 🐷
It’s official—Mummy Pig is expecting a baby girl, due in June 2025! The news has snuffled its way into our hearts, and we’re ready to celebrate in true St George’s style. The news caused great excitement (and more than a little confusion) online, as it appears not everyone in Chorley had clocked who exactly Mummy Pig is...

To mark this oinktastic occasion, we’re launching a "Name That Piglet!" Sweepstake for the children. Each child can enter one brilliant name suggestion—whether it’s sweet, silly, or downright snort-worthy.

We’re celebrating the upcoming arrival of Mummy Pig’s baby girl (due June 2025) with a school-wide sweepstake.

To mark the occasion, we’re launching a Guess the Piglet Name Sweepstake, just for a bit of fun. Entries are open now via SCO Pay, just 50p per guess—and the lucky winner (if anyone guesses correctly!) will receive the much-coveted Golden Pass to our next Leaf Party.

Enjoy, and have fun! You getting involved year 6?

🌳 A Logistical Favour! 🌳
Our long-time friend of the school, Mr Mellor the Tree Fella (James)—whose children once trod the same corridors as yours—is back helping us tame the wilds of St George’s grounds! He’s completed a little strategic deforestation (nothing dramatic, we promise!) and now needs your help moving some logs.

The logs are stacked at the top of Fountains Close, and they need to be carried just down the steps to the pond area near the bike racks. That’s it—just one log per person, per trip. If you’re waiting at drop-off or pick-up Friday or Monday, and you fancy a little strength training, please grab a log and lend a hand. James plans to transform them into seating areas for the children and chip some down for paths.

As they say: many hands make light work. Can we help him help us? We reckon we can! 💪🌿

Folks, can you assist please. WE have a persistently absent coat - can you checkl at home please to see if its been picked up in error -

Its a year 3 child, who uses the year 3, year 6, year 5 cloakroom! So it's a busy cloakroom - can you check at home please.

Many thanks,

As we ease into a well-earned long weekend, may we carry with us the quiet confidence that this season brings—the sense that something good is growing. Post-Easter is a time of renewal, of lightness after shadow, and of noticing what is blooming all around us—not just in gardens, but in our children, in each other, and in the school we build together, day by day.

The world doesn't always move at our pace, but we can choose to notice the good in the pace we're keeping. So rest well, recharge kindly, and return ready to keep planting seeds of joy, effort and belief.

As it says in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.”

Enjoy the break kids. You've earned it.
