Half Term: Time to Breathe, Reflect… and Get Ready to Fly Again

And just like that—we reach the end of another half term. Not just any half term, either. One filled with growth, curiosity, resilience, and moments of brilliance that, if we’re not careful, could be too easily brushed past. So let’s not. Let’s pause, process, and recognise just how far the children—and we—have come.

This break is a well-earned chance to recharge. But it’s also a powerful reminder: growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s in the quiet confidence of a child putting their hand up for the first time, or in the way they help tidy up without being asked. It’s in the choices, the kindnesses, the small-but-mighty steps forward.

We return on Wednesday 4th June, with the final half term ahead—one that’s always packed with adventure, endings, beginnings, leavers’ farewells, suncream (we hope), and moments we’ll remember long after the school bell rings for summer.

So rest well. Be proud. And get ready—because the next chapter is going to be brilliant.

Please remember – we are a NUT-FREE SCHOOL.
We have several children in school with severe nut allergies, including one with an airborne reaction. For their safety, we must insist that no nuts or nut-based products are brought into school—this includes in packed lunches, snacks, or any birthday treats. We know how thoughtful and supportive our school community is, and we thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in helping us keep every child safe.

And most importantly of all... it’s a girl! Introducing Evie Pig—the long-awaited piglet has arrived a little earlier than expected, catching us (and the sweepstake) by surprise! Yes, Evie Pig was prem, so we had to close the name competition slightly early. But fear not—Liam Quinn had already guessed Evie before the grand oink-nouncement, earning himself a fast-track ticket to the prestigious Head’s Tea Party. 🐷🎉

Huge congratulations to Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, Peppa, George, and their gorgeous new arrival, Evie. If you’ve no idea what any of this is about... where have you been?! Peppa Pig has a new sister!

How lovely!

Apropos teaching staff - Just to clarify a few whispers—Siobhan isn’t leaving St George’s! She’ll be working at our partner school, Mossy Lea, for the next 12 months, supporting and zhuzhing up our Reception and Early Years provision over there,  with the expertise we all know and love. Mossy is very much part of our wider St George’s family, and this is a brilliant opportunity to share strengths across our collaboration. Siobhan will be working four days a week over there, 1 day here at St George's,  before returning fully home to us—where she absolutely belongs for next academic year.

As we wrap up this week, here’s something to ponder:

And as we head into this pause, let’s hold onto the truth that learning is about more than books and targets—it’s about becoming. And becoming takes time, space, encouragement, and sometimes just knowing someone believes in you.

To every child who’s tried hard this half term, to every parent who’s juggled a thousand things to get them here, and to every staff member who’s given their all—thank you.

As the great Gandalf once said: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
Let’s use this time wisely: to rest, to smile, and to come back ready to shine. 🌟

Enjoy the break. See you on Wednesday 4th June—same joy, even more sunshine.
