Welcome to this week’s newsletter!

What a week! After three unforgettable days in London with our brilliant Year 6s (and an impressive number of brave adults!), I write this newsletter with slightly sore feet and a very full heart. As ever, our children did us proud—curious, polite, joyful, and absolutely buzzing with new experiences.

Back in school, it’s been business as usual—with the usual St George’s energy, laughter, and learning flying in all directions. As the final weeks of term gather pace, we’re holding on to that sense of momentum, making every moment count, and continuing to celebrate the small wins that make this community so special.

Let’s see what’s been going on... and what planing is needed for Focus Week... which is next week

FOCUS WEEK 23rd- 27th June

Next week we are having our Focus Week- Art in the Outdoors.

We will be looking to get outside, improve the school grounds and have lots of fun.

WHAT DO THE CHILDREN NEED?

All children need to keep a forest school kit on their pegs all week (including wellies).

Trowels and forks on MONDAY for getting the grounds ready to go.

Please keep an eye on the weather forecast- suncream, sunhats, coats

WHAT DOES SCHOOL NEED?

Wheelbarrows- if you have one you can let us borrow on MONDAY please message your class teacher. Ideally we could do with 2 per class. They can be dropped off on the junior playground on Monday morning. Please name them in some way!

Scarecrow clothing- any old clothes that we could create out scarecrows from would be amazing. Please send them into class.

We are really excited about an amazing week in school!

Many thanks,

Emma

A Brilliant Opportunity: Supporting Year 6 Pupils Through the High School Transition 🌟

We’re always looking for meaningful ways to support our children as they grow—and the transition from primary to secondary school is one of the biggest steps they’ll ever take. That’s why I’m delighted to share a fantastic opportunity, kindly brought to us by one of our parents, which I think many of you will find incredibly valuable.

Carol and Kay, two experienced and compassionate counsellors from the SR Therapy Centre, are offering a bespoke 6-week 1:1 transition programme to help children prepare emotionally and practically for the move to high school. The idea is simple but powerful: give children a safe space to talk through their feelings, explore their anxieties, and gain tools to build confidence—all while being supported by trusted professionals.

Each child will receive six 1-hour weekly face-to-face sessions with either Carol or Kay. The programme can run during term time or continue into the summer holidays, depending on availability and your child’s needs.

Here’s what’s included:

📅 Week 1 – Getting to know your child, exploring their feelings about the move to high school, understanding anxiety, and validating their experience.
📅 Week 2 – Reflecting on transition visits and addressing any specific concerns that have surfaced.
📅 Week 3 – Getting organised: understanding timetables, school layout, packing bags, and managing routines.
📅 Weeks 4 & 5 – Building confidence and self-esteem, normalising worries, and strengthening inner belief.
📅 Week 6 – Bringing it all together: reviewing strategies, creating a personalised coping toolkit, and supporting long-term resilience.

Children will always be treated with unconditional positive regard, and the sessions will be tailored to each individual. Parents can be included in reflections if desired, or the sessions can remain confidential unless there are concerns about safety or wellbeing.

⚠️ Not every child will need a full programme—there is also flexibility to book single, one-off sessions based on what’s right for your family.

🔗 Interested?
Please email steven@srtherapycentre.com to express interest or discuss availability. You can also find more about Carol, Kay, and the wider support they offer at: www.srtherapycentre.com

I’m genuinely thrilled to share this with you—it’s exactly the kind of nurturing, proactive support that helps our children flourish during change. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if this sounds like something your child could benefit from.

Let’s continue to support them in stepping forward with confidence, clarity, and courage. 💛

(If you feel you would like your child to enjoy these sessions, and your child is entitled to Pupil Premium Funds then get in touch, and we'll see if theres anything we can do)

Important Reminder: Clearing Outstanding Debts Before End of Term

As we approach the end of the academic year, it is essential to remind you about the necessity of settling any outstanding debts owed to the school. This is particularly crucial for Year 6 kids as they prepare for their transition to secondary school.

There are still outstanding balances for school meals, trips, and Wrap Around Services.  These debts significantly impact our ability to deliver essential wrap-around services effectively. If these debts remain unsettled, we will unfortunately be unable to offer these services until the outstanding balances are cleared.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances can sometimes make payments challenging. If you are facing difficulties, please contact Sharon promptly to discuss a suitable arrangement. Our goal is to support all families and ensure that every child can fully benefit from the opportunities provided by the school.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated as we strive to provide the best possible learning environment for all our kids. We are here to support you and your child, and we encourage you to reach out if you need assistance.

📵 A Quick Word About Smartwatches in School

We’re seeing more and more children wearing smartwatches in school. While we appreciate that these can offer peace of mind for parents and a sense of responsibility for pupils, there are important boundaries we need to maintain.

Smartwatches should be switched to sleep mode or have all messaging and call functions disabled during the school day. This is not just to avoid distraction during lessons, but to safeguard the integrity of school systems, uphold our safeguarding procedures, and maintain the clear, trusted relationship between child and teacher. Communication during the school day, including wrap around care,  should always go via the school office—not through a device on a child’s wrist.

We’re not looking to ban smartwatches at this stage, but we do need to ensure that they don’t compromise the structure, safety, and purpose of the school day. Thank you for your support in helping us strike that balance.

Things are coming together nicely for the Summer fair on Monday,

Just a little reminder to all those budding baker, we are in need of cake donation for the cake stall,

If you have any spare time  to do a little baking we would really appreciate it,

Please drop of before or after school or event during on Monday,

Please make sure your tubs are label with your Child’s name ( as we can get them back to you) and you send in a detail ingredient list,

Thank you

As we reach the end of our newsletter, it's time for a spot of fun and mystery!

Here's a riddle to tickle your brain before we bid adieu:

I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with the wind. What am I?

Ponder on this riddle until we meet again in our next edition! Keep that curiosity alive, and don't be afraid to explore the unknown. Until next time!

Warm regards,

Andy
