Welcome to this week’s newsletter — and a little invitation to zoom out.
Driving to work yesterday, I had two very different encounters. In one, I didn’t let a driver out at a junction — from his expression, I suspect he thought I was a grumpy, inconsiderate so-and-so. Moments later, I stopped to let an elderly person cross the road, and they gave me a grateful wave and a warm smile. Two people, two judgments — yet I was the same person throughout.
It reminded me of the importance of perspective. We’re often quick to judge each other based on one snapshot, one moment in time. But if we zoom out and see the bigger picture — someone’s whole day, their week, or even their life — our understanding and compassion grow tenfold. And i think, if 80% of what your seeing is decent, then hats good enough - no one or nothing is perfect - I always aim for an d80/20 split - and hope that i get judge over the 100%, not the 20%!
There’s a lesson in this that echoes John 7:24: “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” We don’t always know what someone else is carrying, or why they act as they do.
So as we head into this new weekend, as we draw the term to an end, let’s try to zoom out — to be generous with our assumptions, kind in our judgments, and gentle with each other and ourselves.
Let’s keep being the school community that thinks before it judges, and judges over a canvass, not section of it, and a community who supports before it criticises. And, who knows — maybe someone will let you out at the next junction.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! 🌟

Here it is..... let's see where we stand.....
At St George’s, I am fairly unwavering in my belief that we are all on the same side — one team, united in wanting the very best for every child. In that spirit, we are inviting you to take part in our annual questionnaire.
You can fill it in anonymously if you wish — but honestly, there’s no need to don a disguise. We thrive on openness, honesty, and even the occasional left-field suggestion (yes, even if it involves a unicorn petting zoo or a zip wire from the hall roof).

Although I will write to you next week this is the final newsletter of the term, I am filled with gratitude and pride for our incredible community. Our Year 6 children recently celebrated their Confirmation, a moment of faith and promise that echoes Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This sacred milestone exemplifies the spiritual growth we've nurtured together.
Year 6’s adventurous trip to Rivvington and Year 3’s exploration of Ribchester brought learning to life in the most vivid ways. These excursions not only expanded their knowledge but also sparked joy and curiosity, demonstrating that education extends beyond the classroom.
I am thrilled to announce that our SATs results across all phases of the school are phenomenal. While SATs are perhaps more useful as a test of the school than individual children, and despite some faults in the system, all indicators are tremendous, and the kids themselves have done tremendous. This is a testament to the coruscating efforts of our staff and children. The dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm shown by everyone have truly been extraordinary.
To all parents, staff, and governors, your dedication and support have been the backbone of our success. Much like the Avengers assembling to protect and uplift, our team—our family—works together tirelessly for the benefit of our children. The collaboration, commitment, and mutual respect we share create an environment where every child can thrive.
Thank you for making St. George's a beacon of community spirit and educational excellence. As we conclude this academic year, let’s reflect on our achievements with pride and look forward to a future filled with promise and possibility. Here’s to another year of brilliance, growth, and joy at St. George's!
With warmest regards,
Andy

These 2 little superstars have shown courageous advocacy this week!
In RE we watched a video that taught us about the charity WaterAid. We found out that lots of people in our world do not have clean water and toilets.
We all wanted to make a difference and are planning some fundraising activities as a class but these two went home and put their thoughts into action.
They raised £9 by making a lemonade stand at the end of their drives.
Well done George and Myla!

Gifts for Teachers
As is now a tradition in school, but for those parents who are new to us at Christmas and at end of year, we ask, with the utmost respect for you not to send gifts in. We ask primarily, if you’re happy with the work we have done, for your thanks – it is so powerful, and means so much. Many thanks

Year 6 Run Down
Y6 Production: Tuesday 15th July 7pm
This will take place in the School Hall - Year 6 children will be asked to arrive from 6:30 through the main reception doors. Each child will be given 2 tickets - please can the audience enter through the hall doors. It will be Zoomed out as well - the link will be sent via email/seesaw on Monday 14th July. There will be a short presentation after the performance for our Year 6 leavers.
The final Eucharist for the Year 6 kids will be held in school on WEdnesday 16th July as normal - of course the only difference being, if kids are now confirmed they can receive communion with us.
Y6 Duxbury golf: Friday 18th July
Kids will be walking down having a packed lunch there, round of mini golf and an ice cream. Be back in time for the end of the day. More details will certainly come from G or Thomas.
Y6 disco and sleepover: Monday 21st July. Year 6 to come back to school at 7pm, and this will lead into the Year 6 sleepover....
Children to have their tea at home and then arrive in their disco gear, with their things for the sleepover and school uniform for their final day. Enter through the main office. They may also wish to pack a spare TShirt/jumper and a sharpie that can be signed by their friends on the final day. There will be snacks and drinks provided during the disco and normal school rules will apply on mobile phones, and of course smart watches - if they need it for the next day, we will keep it in the safe in the office overnight.
Please note: Y6 Teachers will sort out rooming for the kids - do not worry about this, it's our call!
Y6 Blessing: Tuesday 22nd July 8am
(All Year 6 Adults welcome) 8AM in school hall - enter through the hall doors. Sausage and Bacon Butties served and Fr Jordan will bless the Y6's before they begin their final day at St. G's. Please can adults take home all of their children's sleepover belongings at this time.
As mentioned above, the children will be able to sign a spare jumper/tshirt on the final day. Sharpies are the best to do this and we don't have any in school - please send your child in with a suitable permanent pen.

As the kids move up a year group, there are some changes for the new years 3's.
Remember that you now need to pay for school meals - unless of course you're entitled to FSM. The Universal free school meals only apply to infant kids.
Remember to claim for free school meals even if you're in the infants - it does help the school budget out to be honest!
Year 3 School Meals
Leanne and the catering team prove that with the right people, the right determination, and by working together one can make a difference. This year, the number of kids having schools meals has been the highest we've ever known. Its been amazing. They do a stunning job in the kitchen.
As Year 2 children move into the juniors they will no longer be entitled to a universal free school meal. School meals for Junior kids will be charged at £2.90 (I think) per day from September. Junior kids have 4 choices, a meat choice, a veggie choice, a Jacket Potatoe or a grab and go sandwich bag. Your child can choose what they want each day, on the day, or pre book. Kids on school meals are given a coloured wrist band that corresponds to their choice of food....
As implied above, sadly we are having to increase the cost of things.
In line with lancashire guidance, to break even we are having to increase the cost of school meals. From September school meals will cost £2.90 per day, which to be honest is still very good value. The usual 4 choices are available for Junior kids - we include a sandwich grab and go bag for them to choose from. Children in year 3 onwards choose their meal on the day. The menu is posted on SCO pay
We are also increasing the cost of wrap around care, once again, to cover the increase in salary, and food costs.
Breakfast club will rise to £6.00
There are 2 charges for late stay - £6.00 if picked up before 4.30pm, and £8.00 for the 5.30pm pick up.
|
|
And, if youre joining us in September.....

|
|
We kindly request that all outstanding debts for Late Stay and Breakfast Club be cleared before the new year. Access to these clubs will not recommence until these balances are settled. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Some of the debts are over £1000 now, and that is affecting staffing levels to be honest.
Separately, we also ask that any remaining debts for trips or residential activities be paid before the end of term. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

We’re thrilled to share that our attendance continues to be one of our many shining achievements. Across the spring and early summer terms, our overall attendance has hovered around an impressive 96.5%, placing us above the median of similar schools — a huge collective success! Even more heartening is the drop in persistent absence, showing the commitment of families in ensuring children are here, learning, laughing, and growing each day.
Of course, there are still areas to focus on — especially attendance amongst some of our more vulnerable groups. We know that life can throw curveballs and that sometimes, getting into school is not always straightforward. But each day in school matters enormously. We truly believe that by working together with openness and honesty — not through punitive fines, but through conversation, understanding, and support — we can keep pushing towards even greater consistency.
Thank you for standing with us to build strong habits and to nurture resilience in our children. Let’s keep aiming high and showing what’s possible when we move in the same direction, hand in hand. 💫
