Welcome to this week’s newsletter!

Before we begin this week’s newsletter… a deeper moment, about a simple coat.

It might seem like a small thing — a black Berghaus jacket, clearly labelled, missing from the junior cloakroom. And yet, it matters. Not just because it belongs to one of our children — Anya — but because it reminds us how schools work best: when trust, honesty, and responsibility quietly knit us together.

We often say that what’s most important in a school can’t always be seen. Not the displays, or data, or even the lessons. But rather, the values lived out between people. The child who returns something that isn’t theirs. The parent who checks twice. The community that helps each other out — even in the smallest of things.

So please — as one last try before half term — check your children’s coats. Look for Anya’s name. And if you find the missing jacket, simply send it in. No fuss, no judgement — just a small act of kindness that says everything about who we are.

Thank you so much for your help — let’s try to get it back to Anya.

And now, this week’s news…

Late Stay Donations – Dolls' Clothes Wanted
Our Late Stay provision is in need of dolls’ clothes to support imaginative play and creative fun at the end of the school day. If you happen to have any spare or outgrown dolls’ clothes at home, we’d be very grateful for your donations. Please hand any items in at the school office or directly to a member of the Late Stay team. Thank you for your continued support!

A gentle nudge to check your SCO Pay balances…
As we approach half term, please could all families take a moment to check their balances for Breakfast Club, Late Stay, and School Dinners on SCO Pay. Even small outstanding amounts soon build up, and settling these now helps us keep things running smoothly for everyone. Thank you, as always, for your support and cooperation — it really does make a difference.

Sadly, due to an increasing number of people not paying their debts off, any debts that are not cleared before the end of term will result in your place at Breakfast Club and Late Stay being revoked. This is grim, but necessary.

A message from Nan Hogg...

County Pupil Access Team –

Applications to secondary school

We hope you are well.

We would like to remind you that the closing date for secondary school applications is Friday, 31 October 2025. As this falls during the school holiday, we would be very grateful if you could remind parents and carers as soon as possible that the deadline is fast approaching.

We’ve noticed that there are a number of pupils at your school who do not appear to have submitted a secondary school application, yet, and we would be grateful if you could encourage families to apply as soon as possible to avoid missing the deadline.

Please also take this opportunity to remind families that:

  • The online system is open, please apply using this link https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/starting-secondary-school/
  • An application must be submitted for all Year 6 children, even if they already have a sibling attending the preferred secondary school.
  • Home to school transport should be considered when choosing a school. It is important that families can get their child to and from school once a place is offered.

Thank you for your continued support in helping families make informed and timely applications.

With many thanks and best wishes, Nan

Order your food, as normal on SCO app - I believe the new menu has been put on - how good is Sharon!? We'd be lost without her.

🎄 Can You Help with Our Christmas Fair Raffle? 🎄

We’re getting ready for our School Christmas Fair, one of our biggest fundraisers of the year — and we need your help to make it extra special!

Do you own a business or work for a company that could donate a prize for our raffle? Or perhaps you know someone who might be able to help?

Prizes can be anything from vouchers, hampers, or experiences to products or services — every donation makes a big difference and helps raise vital funds for our school.

If you can help or know a business we could contact, please get in touch with myself or school.

Thank you for supporting our school community — together we can make this year’s Christmas Fair the best one yet! 🎅✨

Something to ponder…

"Character is not only revealed in the big moments, but in the small ones — like doing the right thing when no one’s looking."

Here’s to a community that keeps showing up with kindness, honesty, and quiet strength — in the little things, and the big.
