Church life & parish updates

For information about worship, services, events, and church life, please search either parish below:

St George’s remains in a period of interregnum, as we continue to await the  Church Reps appointment of a new vicar to lead the parish forward. During this time, worship and parish life continue with the support of the wider ministry team and our friends at All Saints.

Welcome to this week’s newsletter!

A traveller once stopped at a crossroads, unsure which way to go. Two paths stretched out ahead of him, one smooth and easy, the other uneven, winding, and a little uncertain.

He asked an old man nearby which road he should take.

The old man replied, “It depends on what you’re looking for.”

The traveller frowned. “I’m not sure,” he said.

The old man smiled gently. “Then whichever path you choose,” he said, “you’ll need to decide what it means to you as you walk it.”

So the traveller set off. And as he went, he realised something. The path didn’t define the journey nearly as much as the way he chose to walk it, with patience or frustration, curiosity or doubt, purpose or distraction.

Same road. Different journey.

It’s never just the path — it’s how you walk it.

Quick Read - The Tip of the Iceberg

A few things just beneath the surface this week:

The Chapel
It’s here, its not quite finished, but it’s gorgeous. A truly beautiful, alpine-style space that is already beginning to make a difference. It will be used for wraparound provision, class worship, group work and interventions, a calm, purposeful space right at the heart of school.
(I’m told it is not to be used as my weekend accommodation… apparently.)
A huge thank you to everyone who helped fund this project: LA, Diocese, Shackerly, PTFA, partners, and wider support. It’s a tremendous asset to the school, and we’re genuinely excited about what comes next. I have a few plans… I think you’ll love them.

The Children
Kids - youre amazing. Well in. Attitudes, effort, and the way you're carrying yourselves hasbeen excellent. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

Us, and you - working togther
A continued thank you for the team approach between home and school. It’s one of the real strengths of this place, and long may it continue.

As we wrap up this week, here’s something to ponder:

And as we move through the week ahead, perhaps that’s something worth holding onto.

There will be moments that feel smooth, and others that feel a little more uncertain. Things that go to plan, and things that don’t. That’s just life.

But what matters most isn’t the path in front of us.

It’s how we choose to walk it — with patience, with kindness, with purpose, and with a bit of belief in one another.

Because when we get that part right, everything else tends to follow.

It’s never just the path — it’s how you walk it.
