St George’s remains in a period of interregnum, as we continue to await the  Church Reps appointment of a new vicar to lead the parish forward. During this time, worship and parish life continue with the support of the wider ministry team and our friends at All Saints.

Welcome to this week’s newsletter!

Right. Let’s abandon the polished “everything is marvellous” opening! This week, albeit relative has been awful! Unpredictable! Felt reactive! Its been the longest 4 day week in ages - give me 5 days any day! Dont get me wrong, its not been catastrophically so. Nobody’s been dangling from the chapel roof or setting fire to the photocopier. But genuine, unavoidable staff absence, an online diary crash, stuff in the background has absolutely taken its toll this week, and if school has felt a little more stretched around the edges at times — that’s because it has been.

First and foremost, an apology where things haven’t run with the smoothness we pride ourselves on.

That said, I also want to reassure you. One of the strengths of this school is that we don’t just rely on goodwill and crossed fingers. We have systems. Planning. Mentoring. Teamwork. People stepping into gaps professionally and calmly. The school continues to function well because strong foundations were already there before the wobble arrived.

But if I’m honest? We simply miss our team when they’re not here. The school isn't a buidling - it's the people, whether child or adult  - and we're different without them! Schools are deeply human places. They don’t run on spreadsheets and timetables alone. They run on relationships, personalities, routines, encouragement at the classroom door, and the thousand tiny interactions that make children feel safe and known.

So yes — this week has been hard work. And yes, im being right dramatic - but it's friday - kids have all gone home, and im only just sitting down to write the newsletter! Indulge me. Fogive me!

To be honest, the week has reminded me how resilient, committed and decent this community is when things get tough.

And perhaps there’s something important in that too.

Quick Read - The Tip of the Iceberg

Muddy Monday – 18th May
I believe this one is becoming Planting Week! As ever, trowels, compost, willing adults, and general enthusiasm are all hugely appreciated. Forest School clothes please — we suspect things may get gloriously muddy.

Class 7 Staffing Update
A quick recap as Katy begins to wind things down ahead of maternity leave. We are continuing the carefully planned transition with Jenny taking the class through to the end of term, supported through team teaching and handover arrangements.
Change can sometimes feel unsettling, but this one has been anticipated, planned for, and managed carefully over time. We wish Katy all the very best as she prepares for this exciting next chapter.

Netball
A huge well done to our netballers, who continue to represent the school brilliantly, not just in performance, but in attitude, teamwork and sportsmanship too. We’re proud of you. And as i just ammend the newsletter, we have breaking news...... "

Netball!!

We have come top of our pool which means we have made it into the finals after school on 21st May. I don’t have any other information at the moment, more details are being sent out to schools next week and we will send forms out to those on the team for the finals! Well done to everyone involved- you were all amazing!! "

Alright, listen up Year 6 crew,
I've got a message that's straight from the truth,
You're facing a test, it's coming up quick,
But don't you worry, don't you quit!

You've got this, I know you do,
You've worked hard, your skills shine through,
Believe in yourself, don't sell yourself short,
You've got the ability, and that's a sure report!

You don't need luck, you've got the power,
To ace that test, hour by hour,
Be confident, be proud of who you are,
And you'll go far, you'll go far!

Remember what the Bible says,
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart," he displays,
He'll guide you through, every step of the way,
And you'll succeed, come what may.

So put on your game face, be bold and be brave,
And let your confidence lead the way,
You're destined for greatness, that much is true,
So go ahead and show the world what you can do!

And i'll see you Monday, bright and early for breakfast?

As we wrap up this week, here’s something to ponder:

And let's conclude where we began.

Not perfection, but people pulling together.

Staff covering for one another. Children adapting brilliantly. Parents showing patience and understanding. Quiet professionalism, everywhere you look.

That’s the real strength of a school. Not whether every week runs flawlessly, but whether the community holds together when it doesn’t.

This one did.

And next week? We go again, a little less caffeine required, and the same determination to keep giving the children the very best of us.

It's all good fun!

Have a great weekend,

Andy
