St George’s remains in a period of interregnum, as we continue to await the  Church Reps appointment of a new vicar to lead the parish forward. During this time, worship and parish life continue with the support of the wider ministry team and our friends at All Saints.

Welcome to this week’s newsletter!

There’s a moment every year, usually around now, where the school year changes gear.

The darker mornings have gone. The grounds starts waking up again. Windows stay open a little longer. Children arrive with that unmistakable summer-term energy: half focus, half optimism, and approximately 14% more chaos.

And honestly? I quite like it.

Because underneath the busyness, this term always carries a sense of possibility. Sports days are coming. Bibbysloom on the horizon. Year 6 begin realising they’re nearly at the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. New plans begin forming. New memories start taking shape, yet there's still work to do!!!!

School life can sometimes feel repetitive from the outside; bells, routines, lunches, PE kits, reminders about water bottles, but it never really is. Its important to bring about little changes that keep things fresh. A change of classroom, coloured T Shirts friday, changing the office, varying my attire - they keep things fresh, exciting, interesting - and they help get to the root of what im aiming for - i want every child to want to come to school, not to feel they have to. And that drives me. Every day.  Every term has its own feel. Its own rhythm. Its own story unfolding.

And this one feels hopeful.

Not because everything is perfect. It isn’t. But because there’s momentum here. Kindness here. Laughter here. Children growing in confidence right in front of us, often without even noticing it themselves.

That’s the magic of schools really.

Tiny steps. Quiet growth. Ordinary days that slowly become important memories.

And before we know it, another chapter has been written.

Quick Read - The Tip of the Iceberg

A few things just beneath the surface this week:

Uniform Shed – New Location
Our Uniform Shed has now moved to the Junior Yard. Same system as before — help yourself, swap and drop. A huge thank you to everyone who continues to support this. It’s practical, sustainable, and quietly brilliant.

Muddy Monday
Back again this Monday — and this one is all about planting. We’re aiming to get St George’s in bloom and fill the school grounds with colour as we head towards summer.
Any help is hugely appreciated — adults, compost, plants, trowels, enthusiasm… we’ll gladly take the lot.

A Word to Parents, for what it's worth
Can I just say this plainly: being a parent isn’t easy. It’s exhausting, relentless, emotional, expensive, joyful, chaotic; often all before 8:30am.
But genuinely, from where we stand, you’re doing brilliantly. The children are arriving in good spirits, showing kindness, resilience and character. That doesn’t happen by accident.
So well done. You’re absolutely nailing it. Like i say to teh kids - process that, and be proud

Yes Year 6 – It’s All Done. And You Did It.

All done and dusted.

And what a week it’s been. SATs papers? Conquered. Every single one. But more than that… you changed. You grew. You didn’t just turn up — you turned up with grit, with grace, with guts.

Let’s process that for a moment — really sit in it.

Think back to Monday. For some, it felt like panic. That amygdala doing backflips. “Fight or flight” kicking in. Your body saying, "This is big, this is scary." But you did it anyway. You walked in with your shoulders back and your pencils sharp. You didn’t let the fear decide. That’s huge.

Fast forward a few days — and you're walking round school saying you loved it.

How powerful is that?

You’ve proven to yourself — and to everyone — that you can do difficult things. And not just survive them... but thrive in them. Enjoy them, even. That's the kind of strength that takes people places in life.

So what does this say about you? It says you're brave. It says you're resilient. It says you're more ready for life than you even realise.

And tonight? No revision. No worry. Just you — being a kid. Stay up late. Camp in the garden. Watch a film. Eat toast in bed. Whatever you do — let yourself be proud.

Because the real test? It wasn’t in the paper.
It was in your mind.
And you passed with flying colours.

Use this feeling. Remember this feeling. Let it shape how you take on the next challenge, and the next. This is your evidence — you can do hard things.

There are so many clichés trotted out around SATs, and frankly, most of them are as stale as last week's toast. Here's the truth: yes, we have to do them. But as ever at St George’s, we do them our way – with determination, with a quiet confidence, with humour and compassion in spades. We don't treat SATs as some apocalyptic reckoning... just a chapter in our story. Part of life. Nothing to fear, and everything to be proud of.

Gettin kids, and well in. Mr P

Print off this poster kids - slap it on your fridge, it will remind you how powerful you are.

As we wrap up this week, here’s something to ponder:

When you read the newsletter we see a subtle theme..... The planting. The colour. The uniforms passed from one family to another. Children growing in confidence. Parents holding things together behind the scenes, often more successfully than they give themselves credit for.

None of it is especially flashy, but isn't it worth celebrating?

These are the things that make communities strong.

Tiny steps. Quiet growth. Ordinary acts of care that slowly become something bigger than the sum of their parts.

That’s how schools flourish.
That’s how children flourish too.

And before we know it, another season has bloomed around us.

Have a mega weekend,

AndyÂÂ
