What a brilliant start to the new year we have had! It has been wonderful to see the children return to school with such enthusiasm, positivity and a real eagerness to learn. Classrooms have been buzzing with excitement as children have been getting to know their new teachers, settling into new routines and enjoying their learning.

Our Reception children have now reached the end of their part-time period. Thank you to all parents and carers for your support during this important transition. We know it can make childcare difficult, but gradually introducing the children to school life really does help them to settle confidently and allows staff the opportunity to get to know each child individually. We are delighted with how well they have settled and look forward to welcoming them full-time from Monday.

As we look ahead, our Year 6 pupils are preparing for their exciting trip to PGL next Friday. We know they will have an incredible time, taking part in new challenges, building independence and creating memories that will last a lifetime. We wish them the very best for their adventure and can't wait to hear all about it when they return. Enjoy yourselves, Year 6!

And finally, to the Year 6 parents... enjoy the peace and quiet!

Assembly Bangers!

What are your favourite assembly songs?

St George’s Church will be holding their Assembly Bangers event on Saturday 12^th September at 4pm. The children have been practising songs for the event and lots of their favourites are on the list. We would love to see as many children there as possible to sing as loud as we know they can! Join us for a hotdog after all your favourite assembly songs!

St George's Chorley All Saints Chorley

Rev Toby joined us for his first worship in school on Wednesday followed by, of course, a roast dinner.

A very special welcome this SATURDAY afternoon - 4pm we have our Assembly Bangers event celebrating 100 years of Blackburn Diocese.

Looking ahead to the following weekend, Sunday 20th September at 9:30am is our harvest festival service. It will be an all-age communion and will be a parade service for our uniformed groups. Do come along and if you can please bring a non-perishable tin, packet, toiletry item, etc for the foodbank. Thank you.

School admissions - those who are applying for a place at St Michael's for 2027 should hand in their church attendance forms to a churchwarden next time they come to church (please take a copy first). Those whose children are now in Year 4 are now in the period when your church attendance will need to be verified if you decide to apply for admission to St Michael's. If you haven't yet done so, do ask for a form next time you come to church and remember to bring it and get it signed each time you come to worship. You can come to either church in the parish or a mix of both.

Coffee Morning - Friday 25th September

The Newell Chapel has been a wonderful addition to our school, and we would like to offer parents the opportunity to enjoy it too. This year, we will be hosting monthly Coffee Mornings for parents and carers.

These informal gatherings provide a chance to relax, enjoy a hot drink and biscuit, and chat with other parents in a welcoming environment. Each month, a group of Year 6 pupils will help to set up and support the event.

Parents and carers are warmly invited to use the Chapel from 8:45am on Friday 25th September, after dropping off their child. Please feel free to help yourself to refreshments and relax.

We look forward to welcoming you and hope you enjoy this opportunity to connect with our school community.

Early Reading and Maths - Reception Parents

Our Reading Meeting will take place on Tuesday 29th September at 7pm. This is an opportunity for parents to find out how their child will learn early reading, writing and maths skills in school and how they can support this at home. We encourage a parent to attend for each child where possible.

Safeguarding

The safety of the children at St George’s is our number 1 priority. A big part of this is dismissal at the end of the day. It's important that we know where children are and who they have been dismissed to. We ask that junior parents come onto the yard rather than collecting from the steps leading to Fountains Close. This means that the teacher sees the children leave. Thank you for your support.

Baby News

A huge congratulations to Chelsea (Miss Davenport to the children) and her partner Joe who are expecting their first baby later this year. We can't wait to meet your new arrival! Class 4, start thinking of some baby names!

Uniform Shed

The uniform shed has been a huge success. If you haven’t used it yet, you are very welcome to! There’s lots of good quality, pre-owned uniform for parents to take what they need. It’s always useful to have a spare jumper/cardigan. If you are making a donation, please take it directly to the shed and hang up the items. This means it doesn’t get mixed with our lost property in school.
