It has been another brilliant week in school, and our children have so much to be proud of. Their hard work, determination and positive attitudes have been wonderful to see, and they continue to make us incredibly proud.

A particular well done goes to Year 6, who had a fantastic time at PGL. The staff were full of praise for their independence, teamwork and excellent behaviour. Most importantly, the children had an enormous amount of fun and made some wonderful memories together. Well done, Year 6 — you really are a brilliant bunch!

A big thank you also goes to all the parents who joined us for our first coffee morning. It was great to welcome you into the Chapel, and there was such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed spending time together and hope to hold another coffee morning before half term.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It has been a fantastic week, and we look forward to another busy and exciting week ahead!

Class 8 Embrace Forest School!

Class 8 are the first class to take part in Forest School this academic year, and Mrs Leigh and Miss Glover have already been very impressed with how enthusiastically they have embraced the experience!

Forest School offers so many benefits, helping children to develop independence, confidence, resilience and teamwork while learning and exploring in the great outdoors. Class 8 have certainly been making the most of every opportunity to get stuck in and explore their woodland surroundings.

The children have enjoyed exploring the woodland and discovering the different species of mushrooms growing around them. They have also had great fun getting creative in the mud kitchen and building dens. There has been plenty of adventure too, with the children enjoying swinging through the trees on the tyre swing!

One of the highlights so far has been learning how to light their own fairy fires using flint and steel. This has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop new practical skills, while also encouraging patience, perseverance and careful teamwork. It has been wonderful to see them supporting and encouraging one another as they tackle new challenges.

The children have had a fantastic time so far, and their enthusiasm, teamwork and willingness to try new things have been great to see. We are really looking forward to seeing what adventures and achievements Class 8 get up to next!

Young Voices - Year 4, 5 and 6

🎶 Young Voices Choir Club 2026–27 🎶
We are delighted to be offering children the opportunity to take part in our Young Voices Choir Club this year. The choir will meet every Monday after school until 4:30pm, beginning on Monday 12th October 2026. The highlight of the choir experience will be performing as part of the Young Voices concert on Wednesday 27th January 2027 at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to perform alongside thousands of other young singers in what promises to be a memorable experience. Concert tickets will be available to purchase closer to the event. Places in the choir are limited, so please only sign your child up if they are keen to take part and are able to make the weekly Monday rehearsals. Regular attendance is important as the children will be learning songs, choreography and preparing together for the concert. Rehearsals will take place every Monday from 12th October, except:

  • Monday 26th October – Half Term
  • Monday 21st December – Christmas holidays
  • Monday 28th December – Christmas holidays

🌿 Year 2 Residential Trip to Bibby’s Farm

We are delighted to announce that our Year 2 residential trip to Bibby’s Farm will take place on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd July 2027.

This two-day residential is a brilliant opportunity for our children to experience new adventures, build confidence and develop their independence in a fun and supportive environment. Throughout the trip, children will have the chance to develop important skills such as teamwork, resilience and independence, while making wonderful memories with their friends.

During their stay, the children will take part in a range of exciting outdoor activities, which may include canoeing, climbing and grass sledging, alongside plenty of opportunities to socialise with friends and play on the park (always a firm favourite).

🏡 Parents & Children Information Meeting

We will be holding a parents and children meeting at Bibby’s Farm, closer to the date of the trip. This will give families the opportunity to visit the site, see the activities, bedrooms and park, and find out more about what the children can expect during their stay. Details will be shared closer to the time.

💷 Spreading the Cost

The residential has been added to SCOPAY, allowing families to spread the cost of the trip over the year. We ask for an initial £30 deposit to be paid by 16th October.

🌟 Pupil Leadership Opportunities

We are excited to be giving children in Years 2–6 the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities and make a positive contribution to our school community.

There are three groups that children can apply to join:

🌱 Eco Group
Application forms for the Eco Group have been sent home today. Children who are interested should complete the form, explaining why they would like to join and what they could bring to the group.

💛 Ethos Group
Application forms for the Ethos Group have also been sent home today. Children should complete the form, sharing why they would like to be part of the group and the qualities they have that would make them a positive member.

🗣️ School Council
Children who would like to be considered for School Council are asked to talk to their class about why they would be the best candidate. They should think about what they could offer as a School Council representative, the qualities they have and how they could represent the views and ideas of other children in their class.

Parents and carers are very welcome to support and encourage children with their applications, helping them to think about their ideas and the qualities they could bring to these roles.

📅 The deadline for applications is Friday 2nd October.

We are looking forward to hearing from the children and seeing the enthusiasm, ideas and positive qualities they can bring to these important roles within our school!

It's quick and easy to do and you will receive email confirmation of your application.

You must apply even if you already have siblings in school. If you live in Lancashire you can include out of area preferences on your online application.

The closing date for primary applications for next September is on 15 January 2027
