What a brilliant week we’ve had in school! It has been wonderful to see our children making the most of our fantastic outdoor spaces in so many different ways.

Muddy Monday was a real highlight and has quickly become a lovely addition to our regular school events. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck in and taking responsibility for caring for their class’s designated area. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm, teamwork and pride in looking after our school environment. Thank you to parents who gave up their time to help.

We have also seen lots of classes taking their learning outdoors this week. Learning in the fresh air provides a wonderful change of scenery, helping to spark curiosity, inspire creativity and engage children in their learning in new and exciting ways. It is also a great opportunity to enjoy the natural environment and develop important skills through hands-on experiences.

Alongside this, the children have been enjoying the MUGA Mile, making the most of our track to get moving throughout the school day. It is a brilliant way to boost physical health, support concentration and provide a welcome burst of energy between lessons, helping everyone return to their learning feeling refreshed and ready to go.

It has been lovely to see our outdoor spaces being enjoyed so fully this week, supporting learning, wellbeing, teamwork and a real sense of responsibility for our school community. Here’s to many more opportunities to learn, explore and grow outdoors!

Church News

We are now having a monthly all-age Eucharist on the third Sunday of the month at St George's.  We hope that this Sunday will be more inclusive of the children with young people taking part in the readings, etc and a short interactive talk.  On these Sundays there won't be Sunday School.

Looking ahead to half term we're hosting a FREE Light Party at All Saints' Church on Friday 30th October from 5-7pm for those in Year 3 and above.  Food, music, fun and games!  And don't forget, Youth Club is open in term time for those in Year 5 and above - again its at All Saints' but is for children from both churches and schools.

Class Call-In – Thursday 15th October, 3:30–5:00pm
Next Thursday is Class Call-In — a brilliant opportunity for you to step into your child’s world and see school through their eyes. From coat pegs to reading corners, pencil pots to prayer spaces, children will be leading the way as they proudly walk you through their classrooms, explain their daily routines, and share their favourite learning spaces.

Please note that it takes us a little time to safely dismiss all children or settle them into Late Stay — so the doors will open from 3:30pm, and you’re welcome to arrive any time up to 4.40pm, with doors closing at 5.00pm Class 1 and 2 families should enter via the main Reception entrance; all other families are welcome to use either Promenade door or come up the junior slope at the side for classes 6, 7, 8, and 12.

There’s no need to book a time or make an appointment — just come along, take a wander, and enjoy hearing all about “a day in the life” at St George’s from the real experts… your children!

Parking

We understand that parking around school can sometimes be challenging, particularly at drop-off and pick-up times. However, we kindly ask all parents and carers to be mindful of our local residents when parking, ensuring that driveways, access points and pavements are kept clear and that everyone can move around the area safely. We ask that all members of our school community park safely and respectfully, showing consideration for those who live nearby. By working together and being mindful of others, we can help maintain the positive relationships we value so much with our local residents. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation and continued support.

A gentle nudge to check your SCO Pay balances…
As we approach half term, please could all families take a moment to check their balances for Breakfast Club, Late Stay, and School Dinners on SCO Pay. Even small outstanding amounts soon build up, and settling these now helps us keep things running smoothly for everyone. Thank you, as always, for your support and cooperation — it really does make a difference.

Sadly, due to an increasing number of people not paying their debts off, any debts that are not cleared before the end of term will result in your place at Breakfast Club and Late Stay being revoked. This isn't what we want to do but is necessary.
