Its been a while since time has permitted a view of the school from the inside - let's see what's been going on....
A lovely end to a Friday... The Archbishop of York led a eucharist service in the hall as part of his Lord's Prayer tour.
Class 5 have been practising their braiding and cord twisting skills this afternoon as part of their DT unit. The children showed resilience, perseverance and patience. Well done everyone!
Year 6 started their new English unit of war poetry this morning, in which we will write our own poems for our remembrance service next month. We began with ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’, investigating what this Latin meant, and then exploring some of the poem using drama. Parents and adults at home, ask year 6 about their ‘tableau’ - it was our fancy word of the morning.
Class 6 came in to find our classroom very messy! The children hunted for clues about who lived in the house and found things had been made from the cardboard. They wrote down their ideas about who lived on the house and why the rubbish was there.
Then the children began to use the cardboard to make their own creations!
Year 2 children had a workshop from the NSPCC this morning which built upon an assembly earlier in the week. They met Buddy and learned about the importance of telling trusted adults when they don’t feel safe.
What a brilliant day Class 5 have had at Lytham beach school today!
The children have shown themselves off superbly. They have been mud dipping in the salt marshes, completed a strandline search and been net sweeping for minibeasts in the sand dunes. There were a few sleepy children on the bus back to school!
