St Georges

St George’s is a stunning Primary School; traditional in its approach to Primary Education, yet recognised by Central Government as a 21st Century National Leader in Primary Education.  St George’s was quite justly judged as Outstanding by OFSTED in May 2012, and by the Diocese – and this recognition did nothing more than inspire and motivate us to do even better.

Proud to be a leading Church school in Lancashire, we pride ourselves in having the most amazing, committed team of professionals who strive to achieve the highest standards possible within an environment of Christian love and care. This ensures that all our children are able to experience high levels of self-esteem gained through achieving their personal potential.

I am determined that children of St George’s will be happy, content, hardworking and successful, and all staff will challenge and encourage their learning during their time in school. I want children to want to come to school as it is a place of pleasure, excitement and contentment – not somewhere they feel that they ‘have to go to’ to learn! As Headteacher of St George’s I have an unshakeable belief that we can, and indeed must motivate children to become incredibly talented independent learners who thrive. Our vibrant and highly acclaimed Primary Curriculum reproduces real-life experiences, and encourages children to think imaginatively, learn enthusiastically and make choices intelligently.

The ethos within our school is purposeful, calm and happy. St. George’s School is a school in which there is pride, order and calmness. These features are achieved through discipline, high expectations, courtesy and imagination. We want to work with our parents and carers to achieve success for every child in our care.

We are a school that prepares children for their future, not for our past. Children today have got incredible potential, and talent; my job, and indeed everyone’s job associated with St George’s is to find, unlock, and enhance that potential, and unleash the talent.

The phrase, "actions speak louder than words" is pertinent. I could write about the qualities of St. George's all day - but you can capture the qualities of the school with a visit to us. Contact either myself, Sharon or Glenys, our office staff, at your leisure, to arrange a visit at your convenience. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Whichever school you choose for your child, may I thank you for your interest in St. George's, and wish you and your child every happiness in the future.

Take care,

Andy Purcell
