Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day - St George's and Mossy Lea

In recognition of Safer Internet Day, St. George's Primary School in Chorley and Wrightington Mossy Lea Primary School have come together to raise awareness about the importance of online safety for students. This global event, celebrated on the 8th of February, promotes the responsible and safe use of the internet among young people.

As Headteacher of both schools, I believe that educating our students about online safety is of paramount importance in today's digital age. We have been actively investing in resources and programs to ensure that our students are well-equipped to navigate the online world safely.

One key initiative we have embraced is the Safer Schools for Safer Learning (SSS Learning) program, which focuses on safeguarding our students and providing them with the necessary tools to stay safe online. SSS Learning has been an invaluable partner in helping us create a safe online environment for our students.

To mark Safer Internet Day, SSS Learning has generously offered us a selection of useful links and resources that will further enhance our students' knowledge and understanding of online safety. These resources will be integrated into our curriculum, ensuring that our students receive comprehensive guidance on topics such as online privacy, cyberbullying, and responsible social media use.

Safer Internet Day serves as a reminder for both students and parents to be vigilant and proactive when it comes to online safety. It is essential to establish an open line of communication between parents, teachers, and students to address any concerns or issues that may arise while using the internet.

We encourage parents to take an active role in educating their children about safe online practices. Some of the resources provided by SSS Learning will be made available to parents as well, allowing them to support their children in navigating the digital world safely.

Safer Internet Day is an opportunity for us all to reflect on our online behaviours and make a commitment to maintaining a safer and more respectful internet for everyone. St. George's Primary School and Wrightington Mossy Lea Primary School are dedicated to this cause and will continue to prioritise online safety in our educational programs.

As we celebrate Safer Internet Day, we remain committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and responsible online environment for our students, staff, and parents. Together, we can ensure that the internet remains a valuable resource for learning and connecting with the world while keeping our students safe from harm.

We would like to extend our gratitude to SSS Learning for their ongoing support and partnership in promoting online safety within our schools.
