Class 4
Welcome to Class 4! We hope you have had a wonderful break, and we have been amazed by the children's attitude's and enthusiasm as they have begun the new term.
May we take a moment to introduce ourselves. We are Emma Smith and Jenny Leap and we will be your children's teacher's this year. Emma will teach the children every morning and Jenny will teach in the afternoon. Alongside ourselves, we will be supported by our brilliant teaching assistants Jackie Wignall, Carol Fairhurst, Janine Dawson and Alison Porter. . Over the children's time in Class 4 they will have the fantastic opportunity to work with a range of experienced staff during both phonics and maths. This has been done to enable us to work in smaller groups with a smaller ratio of children to each adult. These groups will change over the year to allow children to work with all of their peers and different adults. As a staff team, we work closely together to assess, support and challenge the children as appropriate.
This half term our topic is ‘Could You Blow a House Down?’ We are sure this topic will create some great debate. We will be looking at different fairy tales and the feelings of the different characters. Please take some time to discuss the topic with your children and think of some questions they can explore in class.
PE day this half-term will be a Tuesday with Chorley SSP. Children should come in their PE kit on that day.
Our Class Community Project over the year is inspired by our first Literacy topic 'Tidy' by Emily Gravett. We want to be more like Pete the Badger and look after our school grounds by doing regular litter picking both inside the school grounds and around the school perimeter. If any parents would like to join us on our next litter pick, please email to find out the date. We would love to see you!
If you have any questions or queries during the year, please contact us via seesaw or on our emails e.smith@st-georges.lancs.sch.uk and j.leap@st-georges.lancs.sch.uk
